Tutu Tuesday in Saint-Paul-d'Abbotsford, Quebec: A Whirlwind of Tulle and Trends

Bonjour, fashionistas! It's your girl, Clara, back with another installment of Tutu Tuesday. This week, I'm bringing the tutus from the charming streets of Saint-Paul-d'Abbotsford, Quebec, to your screens. You guys know how much I love a good tutu—they're the perfect way to add a touch of whimsy and elegance to any outfit. And let's be honest, there's something about swirling tulle that just makes you feel like a princess (or, in our case, a ballerina!).

Now, I know what you're thinking: "Tutus in everyday life? Seriously?" But hear me out! Tutus aren't just for the stage, friends. They can be a surprisingly versatile fashion statement. Think about it: the classic romantic tutu in layers of soft tulle, perfect for a picnic in the park, or perhaps a playful, tiered tutu for a night out dancing. Even the bold and dramatic tutu—the ones with those magnificent, dramatic poufs of tulle, can make a statement at a gala. And that's not even mentioning the endless variety of colours and embellishments!

So, how do we style the tutu for a #tututuesday look? Let's get into it!

Everyday Elegance

For a casual but stylish everyday look, I suggest a simple, classic tutu in a neutral colour like black or ivory. You can pair it with a cute oversized sweater or a classic denim jacket for a comfy yet chic feel. A pair of flats or sneakers are great footwear choices for this look.

  • A black tutu paired with a cozy grey sweater and black Converse sneakers for a modern take on the classic.
  • An ivory tutu layered under a vintage denim jacket and a pair of ankle boots, perfect for strolling through the cobblestone streets of Saint-Paul-d'Abbotsford.

Don't forget accessories! A dainty necklace or a pair of statement earrings will elevate the look and add some personality. You can also play with textures and patterns. Think a velvet beret for a touch of retro flair, or a scarf in a contrasting colour for a pop of interest. Don't be afraid to get creative!

Party Time!

Ready to turn heads? Go bold with a multi-layered tutu in a bright colour like red or teal. Pair it with a form-fitting top and sleek heels for an effortlessly glamorous ensemble. Embrace sequins, embellishments, and a touch of sparkle. The goal is to channel your inner disco diva!

  • A scarlet red tutu layered with a black turtleneck and high-heeled pumps for a chic and edgy look. You could also play around with a velvet crop top to add to that sophisticated evening feel.
  • A teal tutu with a silver sequin top and glittering strappy heels for a shimmering entrance at the hottest nightclub.
The Ballerina Touch

Who says you can't take your love for ballet outside the studio? You can easily create a stylish "ballerina chic" look with a soft pink or pastel tutu paired with a sleek bodysuit or a classic white T-shirt. You could add a little athletic chic with a pair of Adidas or Converse sneakers for a unique and contemporary feel. Or, you could opt for pointed-toe flats for an effortlessly sophisticated touch.

  • A blush-coloured tutu paired with a black bodysuit and a pair of classic Adidas Superstar sneakers for an effortless athleisure vibe.
  • A light blue tutu styled with a white T-shirt, a sleek pair of black tights and black ballet flats - so chic!

Every time I step into a store or take a stroll through the city's streets, I’m inspired. As a ballet dancer who grew up in Quebec, I've witnessed firsthand the thriving ballet community here. It’s no surprise that our province fosters incredible dancers, and some of my absolute favourites got their start here.
