Tutu Tuesday in Vanscoy, Saskatchewan: A Ballet Blogger’s Guide to Finding Your Perfect Tutu

Hey, fashionistas! It’s your girl, Sasha, back with another edition of my Tutu Tuesday blog post! Today, I’m bringing you all the latest in tutu trends from the heart of the Canadian prairies, Vanscoy, Saskatchewan. As you know, tutus are a classic part of the dancer’s wardrobe and I’ve found that they can easily translate into your everyday look.

I know, I know, you might be thinking, “Tutus in Saskatchewan? That’s a bit out there, right?” But trust me, the prairie provinces have a vibrant arts scene, including a thriving ballet community, and Vanscoy is no exception. I even spotted a couple of dancers sporting the latest tutu designs during a recent coffee date at The Sugar Shack – what can I say, we love our coffee and our tutus in Vanscoy!

For Tutu Tuesday this week, we're taking inspiration from some of the classic tutu styles, giving them a modern twist for everyday wear. We're talking romantic, dreamy, and chic!

• The Romantic Ballerina Look: Think billowing layers of tulle in pastel colors. Opt for a blush-pink or lavender tutu with a flowy, peasant-style blouse and some comfortable, bohemian sandals. Layer a cozy, crocheted cardigan over the top for those chilly Saskatchewan evenings.
• The Chic City Ballerina: If you’re going for a more edgy and modern look, you can go with a sleek, shorter tutu made of more structured fabric, maybe even in a bolder color like red or black. Pair this with a fitted black top, ankle boots and a chic leather jacket for a chic street-style look that will make heads turn.
• The Glam Tutu Look: For a touch of vintage glam, choose a classic tutu made with several layers of white or ivory tulle. Pair it with a glamorous velvet top, and sparkly heels. For extra drama, try a sequin or bead-embellished belt.
• The Sporty Ballerina Look: Looking for a casual yet stylish approach? Go for a mini, black tutu with an oversized sweatshirt and your favourite pair of sneakers. You can even add a trendy fanny pack to complete the look!
