Tutu Tuesday in Alvinston, Ontario: A Celebration of Dance and Fashion
Hey everyone! It’s your girl, Chloe, back with another blog post – and this time, we're going all out for #tututuesday! 🩰
Now, I know what you’re thinking. Alvinston, Ontario? A small town with a big heart, and definitely a lot less “ballet-y” than say, Toronto. But hear me out! As a Canadian ballerina, I’m always looking for ways to celebrate our passion for dance, and let me tell you – there’s something magical about putting on a tutu, no matter where you are. 😉
This past Tuesday, I decided to take a little trip out to Alvinston. It's a quaint town with some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet. But more importantly for me, I’d been wanting to try out the new café that’d just opened up downtown: The "Twirl & Tea.” Sounds perfect for a tutu-loving ballerina, right? 🤩
My goal was simple – make #tututuesday happen, share the joy of dance, and get some fabulous photos in my favourite tutu – my vintage, Romantic era-inspired tutu with the soft tulle layers. It's so delicate and romantic, just like Alvinston! 💝
Now, before you get worried about some kind of “fashion faux pas,” this wasn’t a “let’s wear our tutus to the supermarket” kind of day. No, I was just looking to find some pockets of magic – the little moments of joy that remind us why we love what we do! 😉
First, I had my tea – chamomile, obviously, to help keep my ballerina’s body calm and serene – at Twirl & Tea. The décor was absolutely delightful! All the walls were a lovely soft pastel blue with little floral paintings dotted around. Honestly, it felt like stepping into a charming tea room in a Jane Austen novel! 💖
As I sipped my tea, I got chatting with the owner, a delightful woman named Sarah. Turns out, she was a former dancer herself! It seems there’s a hidden dance scene here in Alvinston, too! 😉 Sarah mentioned a local community group called “Alvinston Dance” who offer beginner ballet classes. Maybe that’s my next #tututuesday adventure!
Then, feeling all energized and ready for more magic, I went for a stroll down Main Street. Even in Alvinston, where things move a little slower than in Toronto, the vibe was buzzing! The shops were lively and there were lots of people enjoying the beautiful sunshine. 😎
Next, it was time for the grand finale: taking some fabulous #tututuesday photos! I found a picturesque little park with a bench covered in climbing ivy, a charming vintage street lamp, and a sweet little old schoolhouse in the background. I put on my tutu, did a little twirl (for the Gram, of course!) and just breathed in the beautiful atmosphere of Alvinston! 🥰
Speaking of photos, let's talk about this fabulous tutu! Now, this wasn't one of your everyday, typical tutus. I mean, have you ever seen those shiny, silver, pointy tutu things you see in competitions? Forget it! Not my vibe. This baby's got all the classic grace of the old-school ballerinas, you know? Delicate, layers upon layers of the softest tulle – just enough to let it swirl and flow as I twirled under the Ontario sunshine. 💫
Here are some #tututuesday highlights you definitely gotta check out:
- Classic Tutu Perfection: As you’ve already heard, my vintage, Romantic-era inspired tutu made the whole day even more special! That beautiful flow of layers is so mesmerizing – I can't help but twirl! The Romantic tutu is all about elegance, light movement and a beautiful, almost whimsical, look. 🩰
- The Beauty of a Small Town: Alvinston showed me how you don’t need to be in a big city to feel inspired by art and culture. Finding the hidden gems is part of the fun! Discovering a hidden passion for ballet in a place you didn’t expect makes you really appreciate the community that brings us all together, dancers or not. 💗
- Sharing the Magic: It’s not about just putting on a tutu and taking photos – It’s about sharing that love of dance, getting out of your comfort zone, and embracing the beauty of unexpected adventures. Who knew #tututuesday would become a quest for vintage-style dance gems and magical small-town charm? 🙃
Okay, now here comes the biggest lesson I learned from my #tututuesday adventure in Alvinston: Don't be afraid to embrace the fun, the unexpected, and the simple joy of twirling in a tutu. You never know what beautiful things you'll discover!
So, spread the love of dance, put on your favourite tutu, find a beautiful spot in your town and let's make the whole world a #tututuesday wonderland! 🌎💖
