Tutu Tuesday in Saint-Ephrem-de-Beauce, Quebec: A Tutu-ful Day! #tututuesday Bonjour, mes amies! Today is Tutu Tuesday, and Iā€™m here to tell you about an absolute blast of a day spent in the lovely town of Saint-Ephrem-de-Beauce, Quebec. You might be thinking, "Wait, ballet in Saint-Ephrem-de-Beauce? But hear me out. Iā€™m not exactly new to ballet, you know? I'm a professional dancer, currently living the dream as a member of a touring company. This means being away from my hometown more than Iā€™d like. When my schedule allows, I like to travel around the province to check out what's going on with the dance scene. This Tuesday, it was Saint-Ephrem-de-Beauce. And, let me tell you, this town really surprised me. Itā€™s home to a bunch of super talented, dedicated dancers, and they're making ballet happen in some really exciting ways! Tutu Tuesday in the Community So, what exactly happened on Tutu Tuesday? Well, I've been keeping my eyes peeled for "Tutu Tuesday" events, which, for me, have less to do with the "Tuesday" part of the week than with finding communities where dance really takes root. It was totally unexpected, but my Insta feeds lit up when a little local ballet studio in Saint-Ephrem-de-Beauce decided to make the day official! This was no mere promotional photo op. It was about ballet outreach. They opened up their doors for community ballet classes - beginners welcome - a great opportunity for the young and young at heart. I have to say, my heart was absolutely full when I saw that local news channel featured it with their big cameras - showing everyone those beautiful little ballerinas all wearing tutus in the community centre! Itā€™s all about that joy and passion for dance that starts with that first little hop! **Tutus for Every Body** From my experience touring, I've got to tell you - those little girls in Saint-Ephrem-de-Beauce know their tutus! One thing that stuck with me from my visit was the fact that their tutus, as charming as they were, represented so much more than the idea of classic, big, ā€œpoofyā€ tutus. There were soft ones, and little ballerina-like ones, a classic romantic tutu look, and even a couple of sassy ones, for our tiny little ā€œprima donnasā€. As someone who spends their days touring in elaborate tutus with multiple layers of tulle, I love that the ā€œlittleā€ girls at that community class weren't afraid of getting all those ruffles going in a swirl. You could feel that it was as much about their own unique sense of style as about the beauty of movement, even if it was just learning a simple relevĆ©! Thatā€™s a fantastic mix that really makes this day a fun time to be involved in dance. It felt like, just for a few moments, every one of those young ladies got to be a real ā€œballerinaā€. **Beyond the Stage** It isnā€™t always just about tutus. One thing I love about Canada is its rich and diverse culture when it comes to ballet. As a ballet dancer, Iā€™ve always found a special place for those stories about Canadians who push ballet boundaries. We have this unique mix in the Canadian dance world: world-class ballet and a super-supportive, passionate audience - who also know a thing or two about how to embrace a little bit of "fun" too. Saint-Ephrem-de-Beauce shows that spirit too - a place where thereā€™s so much community passion, a real "get in there and dance!" vibe, all with a dose of pure local pride. This Tutu Tuesday wasn't about just about wearing the perfect tulle. It's about embracing what it is to live and breathe ballet, however big or small your town might be! Iā€™m already looking forward to seeing how other Canadian communities around the country embrace this spirit in the future. Because Tutu Tuesdays aren't just about one day of the week. Theyā€™re a symbol of something bigger. Here's to all the little ballerinas and the little ballerinas at heart out there in Saint-Ephrem-de-Beauce, Quebec, and all across the land! Remember - let's celebrate our community ballet studios and dancers and give them a virtual Tutu Tuesday shout-out. Don't forget the hashtags, eh! #tututuesday
