Tutu Tuesday in Lebel-sur-Quevillon, Quebec: #tututuesday
Hey, dance lovers! It’s your girl, Claire, checking in from the beautiful and surprisingly fashionable Lebel-sur-Quevillon, Quebec. You might be thinking, "Quebec? Ballet? Isn’t it all about hockey up there?" And while I totally love cheering on the Montreal Canadiens, let me tell you, the dance scene in Canada is seriously thriving. You can find fantastic studios and even professional companies everywhere from Vancouver to Halifax and points in between. And while there's something magical about those grand stages in bigger cities, there's also a raw energy that shines through in smaller towns. Trust me, I’ve danced all over Canada!
Today's #tututuesday, and I'm not just talking about my usual Tuesday practice. No, this is about embracing our love of tutus — a love shared by all of us dance fanatics. From classic Romantic tutus to the whimsical contemporary designs, there’s something out there for everyone. Even those who don’t regularly wear tutus can’t help but be captivated by their flowing grace.
Okay, back to Lebel-sur-Quevillon. Today’s dance studio is Le Centre d'Art in the heart of downtown. Seriously, what a find! They’ve got this stunning, airy space where natural light just floods in through large windows, giving everything an enchanting feel.
Speaking of enchanting, my #tututuesday fashion is going to be the most perfect mix of elegant and whimsical:
* **My Tutus:** I'm gonna be channeling the Romantic era with a classically beautiful, powder-blue, double layered tutu that looks like it’s floating. Think delicate hand-sewn tiers of tulle. Just dream-like. The thing is, the colour gives it a fresh, almost modern feel.
* **My Top:** Over the top, it’s a sleek bodice, a dark, sapphire-coloured thing that makes my powder blue tutu look even more vibrant. The style is simple but effective; it has clean lines with delicate straps and some lovely beaded detailing.
* **My Hair:** Hair is pulled back, a romantic, flowing chignon that allows that tutu to do its thing. To make the look a bit more chic for a #tututuesday, I'm incorporating a beautiful vintage, emerald-green headband that’s just going to tie everything together with a subtle nod to a bygone era.
Now, before I head into this glorious studio, a few more things I want to add about tutu style:
* **The Different Tutu Styles** There’s really no other piece of clothing in the world quite like a tutu, a piece of fashion history in its own right. It's iconic! And let's face it, tutus just aren't something you’d see worn by just anybody — but they definitely make you stand out. And in that, we as dancers, we’re lucky!
* **Types of Tutuses**: Let's talk about the **classic, traditional Romantic tutus.** These come with layers upon layers of tulle that have this beautifully billowing shape. The silhouette is pretty much the ultimate ballerina fantasy. And for #tututuesday, the **Romantic tutu** is definitely in play. Then you’ve got **contemporary tutus.** These have much fewer layers, often incorporating interesting fabrics, maybe a touch of sparkle. Sometimes it’s just a single layer of delicate tulle.
* **Don't forget:** If we are going #tututuesday, we need to celebrate every single type, from those gorgeous Romantic ones, to the cool and sleek contemporary styles — each has its own unique charm and elegance! And for the #tututuesday outfit, that blend of both? There is nothing better!
And as you can see from the photo of me, the #tututuesday style just fits in so well with this amazing little city. This whole place is a gem in itself, and there’s no shortage of natural beauty and a sweet, laid-back vibes. And maybe that's why it's such a great place for art — there's this quiet peace that really makes the creativity flow.
That’s my little slice of #tututuesday from Lebel-sur-Quevillon. Until next time, remember that your own creativity is as beautiful as any tutu!
