Tutu Tuesday in Grey Manitoba Canada #tututuesday

It’s Tutu Tuesday, everyone! And in the chilly embrace of Grey, Manitoba, where the wind whispers secrets across the prairie and the sun casts long shadows across the frozen landscape, I’m ready to spread a little ballet magic.

You might think that ballet and the Canadian prairies don't quite mesh. I mean, what could be more different than the grace and fluidity of the ballet, with its delicate steps and airy movements, and the vast, rugged expanse of the prairies? But let me tell you, there’s something deeply special about twirling under a sky painted with the colours of a thousand sunsets. The freedom, the openness, and the endless possibilities — it speaks to the essence of ballet in a way that's simply breathtaking.

Today’s tutu is a dream, a veritable swirl of white tulle. A Romantic tutu, as they say in the ballet world, flowing like a gentle cloud. It’s a tutu for those days when you just want to feel light, ethereal, and utterly yourself. This romantic, billowing tutu has a delicate bodice adorned with twinkling crystal embellishments that catch the light like snowflakes.

As a professional ballerina, you can't forget the practicalities of ballet on the prairie. So today's look isn't all frills. My look features sleek and comfy black leggings under the tulle, adding warmth and a modern twist to this classic style. And to cap it all off, I’m wearing a chunky knitted hat – it might not be a typical ballet accessory, but it's pure Canadian winter fashion, providing warmth and a touch of playful contrast. The result is a style that’s a fusion of tradition and modernity. I dare say a truly Canadian look!

For my Tutu Tuesday adventures today, I'm taking a spin through Assiniboine Park. The park’s natural beauty complements this ethereal tutu perfectly. You can't help but feel the magical essence of the dance as you take in the pristine frozen landscape and the serene silence of winter. And even though the ice skating rink is frozen, I have to think that gliding gracefully in this tulle on the ice is a ballerina’s fantasy.

Here’s my #tututuesday inspiration for you, my fellow ballet enthusiasts:

  • Embrace the cold and dress in layers - like I do! That cozy hat can be as much of your style as any tutu.
  • Embrace the Canadian prairies as your own stage and celebrate the unique beauty and quiet magic of this place.
  • Let your inner ballerina shine through, even in the most unexpected of places. And don't be afraid to twirl wherever you go, the prairies are vast and you won’t disturb anyone!
  • Finally, if you happen to find yourself in the wilds of the Canadian prairies, keep an eye out for me. You might just catch a glimpse of a tulle cloud fluttering against the snowy backdrop!

#TutuTuesday is not just a trend. It’s a reminder to keep twirling, dreaming, and finding our own ways to make the world a little more beautiful and more joyous.

And now, off I go, to take a turn through the windswept, snow-laden landscapes of Manitoba. The beauty is waiting!
