Tutu Tuesday in Vallee-Jonction, Quebec: A Tutu-tastic Time!

Hey everyone, it's your girl, Clara, back with another fashion post! Today is a special day: Tutu Tuesday! I know, I know, it sounds a little cheesy, but bear with me. It's a day dedicated to celebrating all things tutu, and let me tell you, there's a lot to celebrate! From classic romantic tutus to modern, contemporary ones, the tutu is an iconic symbol of ballet, and what's not to love about these beautiful and expressive garments?

To start our #tututuesday celebration, I have to mention my favorite tutu shop right here in the Vallee-Jonction area, "Danse Danse"! They've got every type of tutu imaginable:

  • Romantic Tutus with their delicate layers of tulle and flowing silhouettes. The ultimate dream for any ballet dancer.
  • Classical Tutus for the more traditional styles and ballets like Giselle. The perfect combination of beauty and grace.
  • Contemporary Tutus with their sleek lines and abstract shapes that go hand-in-hand with modern dance movements.
  • Modern Tutus for those who want something unique. It's an opportunity to explore a more expressive and experimental take on the classic tutu.
They are just so versatile! I have a little collection of my own that I'm so proud of. Some I’ve been gifted over the years and others I've even made myself from scratch. As a dancer, you get to feel truly graceful and beautiful when you slip on a perfectly fitted tutu.

Today’s blog post, though, isn't all about tutus. While I’m definitely proud to share my love for them with everyone, it’s about showing how a tutu can make even your casual outfits just that much more exciting! We may live in Vallee-Jonction, but don’t be fooled by this small-town charm. We are home to some fantastic local businesses, some fabulous shops in nearby Quebec City, and our ballet scene is alive and kicking!

To showcase the versatile nature of this beloved garment, I've decided to show off my #tututuesday fashion picks and try out a few different looks!

Look #1: Tutu as a Skirt!

Who says tutus have to be confined to the dance studio? Today, I paired my classic white tutu with a black leather jacket. The unexpected contrast between the softness of the tutu and the edge of the jacket creates a statement that's both elegant and edgy. Plus, it is SO comfy to wear with a basic tank top. With the right accessories, the possibilities are endless. Some trendy jewellery, a good pair of boots or heels, and some makeup - and you're ready for an evening out with the girls, brunch, or even just a coffee with a friend!

Look #2: The Tutu Blouse!

I’m taking my tutu shopping haul outside of my dance wardrobe this week. If I'm being honest, I don't have a lot of opportunity to wear my more elaborate stage tutus – but I can certainly get creative! I'm a big believer in thrifting, and a few months back I picked up this fabulous, vintage tutu top at the “Good As Gold” thrift store downtown! This sheer, ethereal number is perfect for a day of shopping, going to a festival, or any other daytime activity.

Look #3: Layering!

If you think about it, the tutu is all about layering tulle – it's actually pretty simple to pull off some creative layers with these light and breezy skirts. I think most fashion lovers already love experimenting with layers! My go-to is a long, white tutu layered with an equally long grey tulle skirt over it, creating a dreamy silhouette! For a summer vibe, I pair it with a graphic tee and canvas sneakers! If I want to spice it up, I add some chunky bracelets and a bright red lipstick to create a contrasting pop of colour!

This week’s #tututuesday really showed me how the humble tutu can be transformed into anything from a casual, everyday look to something more glam and fabulous. The best part is that with a little imagination, the possibilities are limitless! If you try these out this week, don’t forget to tag me! It is super inspiring to see other fashionistas and dancers playing around with tutus. Maybe you can inspire me!

That's all for today. Don't forget to check back in for my next fashion post. In the meantime, keep it stylish, and most of all, stay happy! Cheers!
