Tutu Tuesday in Saint-Odilon-de-Cranbourne, Quebec: A Fashionable Spin on Tradition

Hey, fellow dance enthusiasts! It’s your girl, Chloé, back with another dose of all things ballet and fashion. Today, I’m taking you on a journey to the charming little town of Saint-Odilon-de-Cranbourne, Quebec, for a very special Tutu Tuesday. As you know, this day holds a special place in my heart (and wardrobe!).

So, what exactly is Tutu Tuesday all about? It’s a chance to celebrate the iconic tutu, the quintessential symbol of ballet. But, we're not just talking about the classic, romantic tutus, although those will always have a place in our hearts! Tutu Tuesday embraces the entire spectrum of tutu styles – from the grand, flowing tutus favoured by ballerinas of the past to the more contemporary, streamlined designs we see on stage today.

I'm all about bringing a little bit of that tutu magic into my everyday life, so for Tutu Tuesday, I've decided to go all out in Saint-Odilon-de-Cranbourne, which, as it turns out, has a surprising connection to the world of ballet!

I love how the tutu can transform any look, making it perfect for everything from a trip to the market to a fancy night out. For today’s #Tututuesday adventures, I opted for a playful and practical look. I chose a soft tulle skirt in a muted lavender shade, reminiscent of the delicate petals of a Canadian spring wildflower. I paired it with a simple white T-shirt, adding a touch of whimsy with a vintage pin featuring a ballerina in mid-leap. The skirt is the perfect blend of twirl-worthy fun and everyday ease.

My quest for Tutu Tuesday magic took me to the charming little town square in Saint-Odilon-de-Cranbourne, and I must say, it's a real treat! A peaceful little community with the sweetest little shops, perfect for finding unique treasures that add a touch of artistry to any ballet enthusiast’s wardrobe.

First on my agenda was a visit to "Les Beaux-Arts", a local shop dedicated to all things art and design. The shopkeeper, Madame Dubois, had an uncanny ability to sniff out my penchant for classic ballet pieces. She led me to the back room, and there, tucked amongst dusty prints and ceramic figurines, were three antique tutus! They were a sight to behold. They had an ethereal, almost fragile beauty, their delicate layers of silk shimmering in the dim light. It was a beautiful glimpse into a bygone era of ballet. The shop smelled like old paper, faded perfume, and perhaps, just perhaps, a little bit of the theatre.

Leaving the antique tutus to their peaceful retirement, I took a walk around town. This quaint little corner of Quebec has some surprising connections to ballet. It seems the community theatre in town was actually founded in the early 1900s by a travelling ballet troupe who found refuge in the local church. I found this incredibly charming. While I didn't get a chance to visit the theatre today, the local library, “La Bibliotheque du Village," had a stunning collection of ballet books! They ranged from historic treatises on the technique of ballet to contemporary reflections on the artistic evolution of the dance.

Of course, no trip to Saint-Odilon-de-Cranbourne is complete without a taste of their renowned maple treats. As I indulged in a mouth-watering, maple-drenched pastry at "Le P'tit Gateau", I reflected on the unique beauty of the tutu. It truly embodies a harmonious blend of artistry and tradition, practicality and elegance, which is perhaps why it holds such a timeless appeal.

And, of course, a good Tutu Tuesday adventure is never complete without a photoshoot! The beautiful setting in Saint-Odilon-de-Cranbourne with its quiet streets lined with vintage lampposts made for the perfect backdrop. I struck a pose – just a touch of classic ballerina, a touch of playful urban chic, all with a subtle splash of Canadian heritage in the mix. And, I must say, my playful, romantic lavender tutu definitely made for a good time, whether it be swirling in the streets or capturing the moment on film. I had to make sure to share these snaps on my blog, so all you Tutu Tuesday enthusiasts could join me on my sartorial escapades. (You can check them out later on my social media: I’ll be sure to link it!)
