Tutu Tuesday in Lac-au-Saumon, Quebec: A Celebration of Dance and Fashion
Bonjour mes amis! It's me, your friendly neighbourhood ballerina and blogger, back with another #TutuTuesday update. This week, Iām feeling inspired by the breathtaking beauty of Lac-au-Saumon, Quebec. A small, charming town tucked away in the province's heart, Lac-au-Saumon has a unique energy that makes me feel like Iām stepping right out of a fairytale. And you know what goes perfectly with fairytales? Tutus!
So, where do I even begin? Todayās #TutuTuesday inspiration is a beautiful blend of classic ballet styles with a hint of contemporary edge. Hereās the breakdown:
- The Romantic Tutu: Thereās something so enchanting about the Romantic tutu. Think of a light and airy design, often constructed with layers of tulle and a single layer of fabric in the bodice, for an ethereal look that's as captivating as it is feminine. Think of the tutus youād see in ballets like Giselle ā an absolute classic!
- The Bell Tutu: Oh, the classic bell tutu, a favourite among us ballerinas! Itās named for its beautiful, bell-shaped form, with layers of tulle gradually extending from the waist to create the silhouette that dancers worldwide cherish. A modern interpretation might involve a little more embellishment, such as sequined panels or feathered trims for a touch of drama and extra flare.
- The Contemporary Tutu: You canāt deny the cool edge that a contemporary tutu brings to a performance. It might incorporate new materials, asymmetrical lines, or a bit more deconstruction in the design to deliver a style thatās modern, unexpected, and super expressive. Youāve probably seen it used in a range of ballets from pieces choreographed by Balanchine to a number of newer, experimental ballets.
- The āEn Pointeā Look: I mean, you simply can't talk about tutus and not talk about pointe shoes! This is an absolute essential when it comes to taking that iconic ballet stance that all ballet dancers live and breathe by. And, thereās nothing more exhilarating than hitting those final positions en pointe and knowing you're in your element!.
For #TutuTuesday in Lac-au-Saumon, I think Iāll embrace a classic Romantic tutu. The soft and billowing silhouette seems to perfectly embody the essence of this peaceful town. Imagine waltzing along the shores of the Lac-au-Saumon, with the sun dipping behind the trees, and the sounds of nature whispering a gentle melodyā¦ itās absolutely magical!
Now, this got me thinking ā I have to bring you more details about whatās going on in ballet in Lac-au-Saumon. Maybe there's a local dance studio or even a special dance festival coming up. That's why I'm going to do some research and see if I canāt bring you a few updates about the Canadian ballet scene ā Lac-au-Saumon specifically!
Stay tuned my friends ā and never underestimate the power of a good tutu. Keep those dance dreams alive!
Lots of love and pirouettes,
