Tutu Tuesday in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan #tututuesday

Hey everyone, it's your favourite tutu-loving ballerina back with another #tututuesday blog post! This week, I decided to venture a little outside my usual ballet stomping grounds and head out to Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. Now, I know what you're thinking: ballet in Kerrobert? But let me tell you, this charming little town has a whole lot of heart, and that includes a thriving arts scene, believe it or not!

As soon as I stepped off the bus (which, by the way, was an experience in itself – totally recommend a Greyhound road trip for some real Canadian adventure), I was greeted by the most welcoming group of people. There were these sweet little kids doing some adorable street ballet for their local festival, and they were all wearing the cutest little tutus – think tiny pastel tulle and ribbons galore! You could just feel the love for the art form in the air.

Now, let's talk about tutus. I mean, it is Tutu Tuesday, after all. I decided to wear my new custom-made Victorian-inspired tutu for this post. It's got layers and layers of shimmering silver and ivory tulle, and it just flows so beautifully with every twirl. I paired it with a classic black leotard and a pair of vintage-inspired Mary Jane flats for a touch of Parisian elegance. This particular tutu is absolutely perfect for a performance, or just for adding a touch of glamour to an ordinary day.

The thing I really loved about Kerrobert is the way the people embrace their heritage. I even managed to find a local shop selling handmade leather boots and crafts – something truly Canadian and unique. You can just feel the sense of pride and history woven into the fabric of this town.

After exploring the town, I stopped by a small cafe for a quick snack. And guess what? They had the most delicious home-baked scone, topped with fresh Saskatoon berries. Talk about a Canadian classic!

One of my favorite parts about Kerrobert, though, was meeting some local dancers. Now, we're not talking big-city ballets, no sir! These ladies are a group of incredibly talented dancers, and they were more than happy to share their love of the art form with me. I even got to try out a few dance moves in their small studio – trust me, the floor was definitely a bit springier than I'm used to, but in a good way, of course!

Kerrobert truly showed me that you can find inspiration for dance everywhere, even in the heartland of Saskatchewan. Whether it's the charm of the town itself, the talent of the local dancers, or the vibrant traditions of the people, I left feeling deeply inspired and filled with a renewed love for the art of ballet.

And for those of you who are thinking about exploring your own #tututuesday adventure, I highly recommend a trip to Kerrobert! Just remember, always pack a comfy pair of dance shoes, even if it’s for a quick twirl in the streets!

Here are a few more thoughts about tutus, for you:

  • Speaking of #tututuesday, let’s get this trending! Let’s make it a thing across Canada, maybe even the world! If you want to join me, wear a tutu to your favourite spot in town, snap a pic and post it using the hashtag! It's a guaranteed way to brighten up anyone's day.
  • Want to wear your tutu outside the studio but don’t know where to start? Try different styles for a look that best suits you. Ballet tutus for a classical look, romantic tutus for something sweet and ethereal, or a playful tutu with funky embellishments! And never be afraid to experiment!
  • So whether you’re a professional dancer or a ballet enthusiast like me, remember: a tutu isn’t just a costume, it’s a symbol of art, passion, and endless possibility!

Until next time, happy twirling everyone!
