Tutu Tuesday in Sainte-Genevieve-de-Batiscan, Quebec

Hey there, fashionistas! It's your girl, Claire, back with another #tututuesday post. This time, we're taking it to the streets, literally! I'm in the quaint little town of Sainte-Genevieve-de-Batiscan, Quebec, where history and charm come together in a way that truly embodies the spirit of Canadian ballet.

This #tututuesday has me feeling like a whimsical princess. Not your typical, long, flowing tutu, though – this one's a bit more contemporary. Imagine a shimmery, champagne-colored tutu, a burst of soft, delicate tulle. Think Parisian chic meets a ballerina's elegance. This tutu has got a touch of a ballerina's whimsy, and a modern, feminine sophistication.

Sainte-Genevieve-de-Batiscan's Charm

For those unfamiliar, Sainte-Genevieve-de-Batiscan is a historic town just east of Trois-Rivieres. This village, settled in 1667, is brimming with colonial architecture. Charmingly weathered wooden houses lined with vibrant flower boxes are an absolute dream come true for a photo shoot.

The vibrant history of the town really bleeds into everything. From the cobbled streets that have seen countless carriages pass to the unique boutiques brimming with locally made goods, this place just oozes character.

I mean, seriously, can you imagine a more perfect backdrop for a #tututuesday adventure? Just imagine strolling down a path lined with maple trees and, voila, there's a photo-op waiting to be captured.

Ballet and Fashion

I've been doing ballet since I was a little girl. Growing up in Montreal, Canada, I was immersed in a vibrant ballet culture. But here's the thing – ballet's not just about pirouettes and arabesques. It's about artistry, it's about pushing boundaries, it's about making a statement. And what better way to express that than with fashion?

Ballet tutus have transformed from their classical origins to encompass modern and innovative designs. Tutus are now becoming bolder in their use of materials, their construction, and their design features. For example, the traditional tulle has evolved into innovative and sophisticated designs made with materials like silks and chiffons. The look blends classic ballet with modern, artistic expression. It's an amazing reflection of ballet in Canada, how our heritage intersects with contemporary fashion.

So here’s a sneak peek at my Tutu Tuesday outfit :

  • The Tutu: I paired my contemporary champagne-coloured tulle tutu with a velvet crop top and a sheer, cream-coloured long cardigan.
  • Shoes: My footwear choice – classic white pointe shoes, a statement of grace and ballet. They gave the whole look that little something extra.
  • Accessories : The piece de resistance: A beaded necklace adorned with miniature ballerina figurines. I can't get enough of those little ballet accents!
