Tutu Tuesday in Brebeuf, Quebec: A Celebration of Dance and Fashion #tututuesday
Hey everyone! It's your favourite ballet blogger, Clara, back with another post about all things dance and fashion! This week, Iām in charming Brebeuf, Quebec, where the spirit of dance is alive and kicking. What better way to celebrate this beautiful community and its love for all things pirouettes than with a **#tututuesday** dedicated to the glorious tutu?!
As a professional ballet dancer in Canada, I've got to tell you, there's nothing like slipping into a perfectly fitted tutu! Itās more than just a garment; itās a statement. A symbol of artistry, grace, and the dedication of a dancer. It's a little slice of magical fairytale on stage, and honestly, a must-have for any dancer's wardrobe.
Here in Brebeuf, we're seeing the evolution of the tutu, and itās fabulous! We're moving away from the traditional and exploring new shapes and styles that still pay homage to the classics. Here are some of the amazing tutu styles Iāve spotted lately in the beautiful Canadian ballet scene.
- The Romantic Tutu: You just canāt go wrong with a traditional Romantic tutu. It's all about layers upon layers of tulle, a dream come true for any budding ballerina! In Brebeuf, we saw a beautiful interpretation at a recent production of āGiselle," which was stunning.
- The Contemporary Tutu: Itās bold, itās edgy, itās all about defying convention! And thatās what we love about it. These tutus often incorporate interesting fabrics and unusual designs. One example of this is a fantastic rendition of "La BayadĆØre" I saw at a ballet company in Quebec city that took my breath away.
- The Short Tutu: A short tutu allows dancers to express themselves in a modern way. These are ideal for choreographies that are contemporary in nature. It was so exciting to see a talented group of dancers in the Brebeuf High School performance of āCinderellaā pull this style off beautifully.
- The Practice Tutu: Itās essential to the training of any ballet dancer, and even in the Quebec province, a must have in the dance bag. A perfect and comfy companion when practicing those leaps and turns. But even with practicality at the forefront, even these come in all shapes, sizes, and even colors ā talk about an adorable outfit.
Brebeuf's love for ballet runs deep. Every performance I've witnessed has brought tears of joy. From seasoned professionals to enthusiastic beginners, there is such a sense of dedication and community among these dancers. The energy they bring to every class and every rehearsal, makes their tutu-wearing experiences so special.
As my day in Brebeuf concludes, itās wonderful to see the joy and excitement brought to the community by the simple, yet impactful art of ballet. And who doesnāt love the classic, chic, and oh-so-beautiful tutus that adorn the talented dancers? It truly is an ode to both fashion and artistic passion.
Keep on dancing, Brebeuf. You inspire me. And keep watching my social media feeds because my next #tututuesday is just around the corner!
