Today, I’m bringing the magic of Tutu Tuesday straight to Lloydminster, Saskatchewan – a vibrant city with a surprising amount of ballet buzz! Now, if you know anything about my love for ballet, you know I can’t resist a good tutu. So, when I heard about the #TutuTuesday movement spreading across Canada, I had to get in on the action!

For those who aren’t in the know, #TutuTuesday is a social media celebration all about rocking our favorite tulle creations. Think flowing romantic tutus, fierce and edgy contemporary tutus, even the super fun, shorter tutus - every style is welcomed! It’s a day for expressing ourselves through fashion, and what better way to do that than with a garment as iconic and expressive as the tutu?

But here's the thing – #TutuTuesday isn't just about posting pics and rocking the tutu look. It's about embracing a sense of community and spreading joy. The joy of dance, the joy of fashion, and the joy of being part of something bigger than ourselves. I've reached out to the folks at the Lloydminster Arts Centre and local ballet schools, and the response has been phenomenal! Everyone is pumped about #TutuTuesday. There’s been a buzz on social media and everyone's looking forward to a day filled with tutu-rific fun! We’ve got an afternoon planned for photo shoots in beautiful spots across the city, with live music by a local jazz band to add a bit of that classical flair! You can even spot the artistic director of the Lloydminster Ballet School spinning and twirling around town! It’s all about sharing the magic of dance with everyone.

From classic romantic tutus with billowing layers of tulle to the more contemporary, edgy tutus, everyone is finding ways to make a statement with their tutus. It's all about celebrating the individuality that each of these styles brings. We even had some daring folks venture out into the “punk tutu” look - leather jackets, ripped jeans and a tutu for a unique twist! The fun doesn't stop there. We've even got some local bakers whipping up #TutuTuesday-inspired cupcakes, featuring tutu-shaped frosting and sprinkles!

It's a beautiful day for showing support and fostering creativity in our community. This kind of local initiative is what makes Lloydminster so special.
