Tutu Tuesday in Wilmot, Ontario, Canada #tututuesday
Hey dance fam, it's your girl, Nadia, back with another edition of my weekly dose of tutus. This week we're heading out to the heart of Ontario, to Wilmot, where we’re all about celebrating dance, fun and fashion. I know, you’re probably thinking “Wilmot?” Hear me out! Even small towns like Wilmot deserve their dose of tutu love! This week, my inspiration came from a whirlwind trip to Wilmot, a charming little town where the folks really know how to throw a good party. It all started with the “Tutus and Twirls” fundraiser held at the local community centre. We're talking full tutus, bouncy castles, and a dance-off that even the grandparents joined in on.
Now, when you’re thinking tutus, you’re probably envisioning that classic, layered tulle, full skirt that’s a ballet staple. But you know me, I like to break the rules (and maybe add a little sparkle). In Wilmot, there was an amazing mix of tutu styles: * The traditional full-bodied tutu for those classic ballet feels, you know, those tutus you always dream of seeing on a stage at the National Ballet School of Canada * Short, sassy, playful tutus in bold colours like turquoise, hot pink, and even a bit of leopard print * Even some really unique "DIY" tutus fashioned out of recycled materials that were so creative, you could see a real Canadian, DIY, love for design shine through.
The whole day had a beautiful "we're in it together" kind of vibe. It was amazing to see everyone – from tiny ballerinas with dreams of someday gracing a Toronto stage, to experienced dancers with decades of experience, coming together for a cause. And let's be honest, a dance-off like that is always going to leave you with a smile, and a touch of dance envy. And yes, you can bet there were plenty of giggles, especially during the “Tutu Toss" where everyone had to twirl, toss, and catch their tutu like they were professionals.
Speaking of giggles, let’s not forget the local Wilmot grannies, their energy was on fire. I mean, you can’t say a #tututuesday is a real success without a bunch of energetic grans, who truly embraced the tutu challenge. I think the smiles on everyone’s faces, both old and young, definitely made Wilmot, and our little Canadian town, feel like it was right on the map.
This, my friends, is why #tututuesday is more than just about a tutu. It's a call to action for joy, for embracing our love for dance in any form. And that can happen anywhere!
So whether you're a pro ballerina in downtown Toronto, or a first-time twirler in the heart of the Canadian countryside, wear that tutu, share it with the world and have some fun with it. This week, it was all about Wilmot, but next week #tututuesday is wherever you want to make it happen. Just tag me, @Nadia, so I can join you in all the fun!
