Tutu Tuesday in Selwyn, Ontario, Canada: A Whirlwind of Tutu-liciousness! #tututuesday

Hello fellow dance enthusiasts and tutu-lovers! It’s your favourite Canadian ballerina, Blair, back with another installment of #tututuesday. Today, I'm taking you on a tutu-tastic journey through the streets of Selwyn, Ontario, a charming little town just outside of Peterborough.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: "Selwyn? Is there even ballet there?” Well, let me tell you, folks, ballet in Canada isn’t just limited to the big city studios. You can find amazing dancers and passionate teachers in even the smallest towns, and Selwyn is no exception! There’s a vibrant little studio nestled in the heart of town, run by the kind and talented Mrs. Wilson, and believe me, those kids are absolutely amazing.

And who better to kick off our #tututuesday celebration than those talented young dancers! Today, I'm going to showcase some of the incredible tutu styles they rocked for their recent recital, "A Midsummer Night's Dream".

  • First up, we have the classic **romantic tutu** worn by the Sugar Plum Fairy, who was just as sweet as the candy herself! This timeless tutu, with its multiple layers of soft tulle, evoked pure innocence and grace, and was the perfect embodiment of the dream-like world of "A Midsummer Night's Dream".
  • Next, the mischievous Puck, a playful character with a dash of mischievous energy, stole the show in a stunning **contemporary tutu**. Crafted from more modern, fluid fabric, this tutu was both dynamic and whimsical. I have to admit, I was impressed by the way she managed to pirouette and jeté while staying in control of this free-flowing garment – Talk about a tour de force!
  • Speaking of tour de force, let’s not forget the mesmerizing **pas de deux** performed by a talented duo. The male dancer in this piece was dressed in a traditional white **tutu** - you know, those gorgeous **tutus** that remind us of the elegance and athleticism of classical ballet! They really captivated the audience and left us all in awe of their incredible skill and artistry.
  • Finally, the fairies of the forest graced the stage in an array of colourful, **tulle skirts** reminiscent of the woodland blooms. They shimmered like little sprites as they flitted and danced through the enchanted forest! The fact that each skirt was unique and perfectly matched their specific fairy persona added another layer of magic to their performance.

So, from the classic and timeless to the bold and contemporary, these tutu styles are a testament to the versatility and beauty of ballet. Even in a little town like Selwyn, ballet shines through, proving that dance transcends any boundaries.
