Tutu Tuesday in View Royal, British Columbia: A Celebration of Dance and Fashion #tututuesday

Hey everyone! It's your girl, Chloe, back with another post! As you know, I'm absolutely obsessed with all things dance and fashion, so when I saw the #tututuesday trend popping up on social media, I knew I had to get involved. ๐Ÿ’ƒ

For those of you who are unfamiliar, #tututuesday is all about celebrating the iconic garment that is the tutu. Every Tuesday, dancers and dance lovers alike showcase their favourite tutus and spread the joy of ballet. It's a fun, positive community that celebrates the art form we all love, and I'm so proud to be a part of it! ๐Ÿ’–

Now, I'm based here in View Royal, British Columbia, and while we don't exactly have a bustling ballet scene like you might find in Toronto or Vancouver, there's still a vibrant dance community here. There's a reason it's known as the "Heart of the Peninsula," and we have so many amazing local studios and schools that offer everything from classical ballet to contemporary and hip-hop. And yes, lots of tutus! ๐Ÿคฉ

But #tututuesday is about more than just showcasing beautiful dancewear. It's about celebrating the history, the artistry, and the magic of ballet. It's about appreciating the craftsmanship and creativity that go into making these iconic costumes. And it's about reminding everyone, whether they're dancers or just passionate about the art form, that ballet is alive and well, even in our small little town. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Now, let's talk about tutu styles! The world of tutus is a diverse and exciting one. We've got the classic romantic tutu, which features multiple layers of soft tulle for a voluminous and ethereal look. This is your traditional fairytale tutu, perfect for ballets like Swan Lake and Giselle. And then there's the more modern, streamlined "bell tutu," which has a shorter, less-fluffy silhouette. These tutus are a great choice for contemporary ballets where fluidity and movement are key. And don't even get me started on the insane amount of creativity we see in costumes for "Giselle"! ๐Ÿ˜

But my favourite kind of tutu, by far, is the "pas de deux" tutu. This one combines elements of the romantic tutu with the modern streamlined style. The result is a tutu that's both graceful and powerful, perfect for those intimate and complex partner dances. You know the ones! When you see the principal dancers just flow in those movements and tell a story together... it's simply breathtaking! ๐Ÿ’–

If you haven't yet checked out the #tututuesday hashtag on Instagram or TikTok, I highly recommend it! There are some incredible dancers from all over the world showing off their stunning tutus and their amazing skills. You're sure to be inspired! ๐Ÿ’•

So, if you're in View Royal, or even just browsing the internet, make sure to check out the #tututuesday hashtag this Tuesday. And if you're a dancer, maybe take a few minutes to grab your tutu and capture your own unique style! ๐Ÿฉฐโœจ

Here's to celebrating all things dance and fashion! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ซ

Some of my favourite #tututuesday finds:

  • A ballerina in a vintage pink tutu dancing in the snow. โ„๏ธ
  • A group of dancers posing in matching black tutus with feather accents. ๐Ÿชถ
  • A young girl twirling in a whimsical rainbow tutu. ๐ŸŒˆ
  • A ballet company celebrating their anniversary by all wearing white tutus and holding flowers. ๐ŸŒธ

It really doesn't matter what type of tutu you have or even if you're a dancer. Everyone's invited to participate in the fun! Just grab your most fabulous tutu, strike a pose, and join the community! โœจ
