Tutu Tuesday in Bois-des-Filion, Quebec: A Tutu-ful Celebration of Ballet in Canada

Hey everyone! It's your friendly neighbourhood ballet dancer and blogger, Claire, back with another Tutu Tuesday post! Today, I'm taking you all to the charming town of Bois-des-Filion, Quebec, for a celebration of all things tutus!

For those of you who don't know, Bois-des-Filion is a small town nestled just outside of Montreal. Known for its picturesque streets and beautiful parks, Bois-des-Filion is a true gem of Quebec, and today, it’s home to a fabulous celebration of ballet!

Let's be real, every ballet dancer loves a good Tutu Tuesday! But, today, we’re talking about more than just the classic tutu styles like the romantic, the "paillette", the pancake, or even the ubiquitous "bell-shape" tutu - we’re exploring all kinds of tutus here!

I think we can all agree that tutus have a magical way of transporting us to another world, and the world I’m seeing in Bois-des-Filion today is one of colour, fun and, of course, an undeniable love for ballet!

A Glimpse into the World of Tutus in Bois-des-Filion:

There’s a buzz of excitement in the air, and it’s contagious! Here’s what makes today’s Tutu Tuesday so special:

  • The Tutu Parade: Imagine a procession of twirling ballerinas, each in a unique and beautiful tutu - that’s the essence of this magical event. You have tutus made with different colours and fabrics, from traditional to avant-garde styles, and they're all on full display as these dancers show off their grace and joy.
  • The Tutu Workshop: Learn the art of making tutus! Participants will get hands-on experience learning how to make their own mini-tutus, or create a special decoration for a pre-made one. Talk about a great craft for all ages, especially if you have some future dancers in your family!
  • The Tutu Photo Booth: Every event needs some fun and fabulous photo opportunities! With colourful backdrops and all sorts of tutus ready for any kind of pose, there’s no doubt this photo booth will be a crowd pleaser!
  • The Tutu Fashion Show: Get ready to be wowed by a series of runway appearances, featuring different designs, fabric choices and levels of sophistication for tutus, from the traditional classics to more modern, avant-garde interpretations. The sheer creativity is mesmerizing!

I was lucky enough to chat with some of the local organizers, and they told me this event is more than just a celebration of dance - it's about shining a light on the importance of arts in the community. It’s inspiring to see everyone come together and celebrate, all because of the joy and beauty of ballet!

So, let me ask you, have you ever dreamed of dancing in a tutu? You don't have to be a professional ballet dancer to experience that dream! I think Tutu Tuesday has proven that the magic of ballet knows no bounds, and its definitely something we need to be celebrating every Tuesday!

Keep those twirls coming! I hope to see you all next week for another tutu-filled post!
