Tutu Tuesday in Amherst, Nova Scotia: #tututuesday Okay, tutu lovers, gather 'round! It's Tuesday, which means it's time for my favourite day of the week, **Tutu Tuesday!** I’m feeling so inspired today, I just gotta share the joy of ballet and the sheer brilliance of the tutu with you guys. This week, I’m thinking about the history of tutus in Canada. As a Canadian ballerina, I’ve been lucky enough to experience the vibrant ballet scene in this country, and I have to say, Canadians have a real passion for the art. We’re a nation of storytellers and dancers, and there's no better way to express yourself than with a twirl or a leap. Ballet is truly a language understood by everyone, even if you haven’t got a clue about the French terminology! The ballet tutu – oh, it’s just so elegant, and let’s be honest, super dreamy! When it comes to tutu styles, you guys know I’m a sucker for the Romantic tutu – those cascading layers, the lightness, the dreamy vibe...I mean, come on, who doesn’t love to feel like a fairytale princess?! But we gotta give a shout-out to the classical tutu too. I’m talking about the iconic, shorter, form-fitting design that really showcases a ballerina’s lines. That classic look has been inspiring generations of dancers! In Amherst, Nova Scotia, I always have the best time searching for the perfect tutu to make my heart (and my wardrobe!) sing! We're blessed with tons of great vintage shops where you can unearth all sorts of hidden gems. It's a true thrill, a little treasure hunt with a big payoff – discovering a timeless piece that will make you feel like you stepped right onto the stage! There’s nothing like finding a classic tutu, vintage or brand new, to add a touch of sparkle to any occasion, whether it's a formal event, a casual gathering with friends, or just a day to feel extra fabulous! I swear, tutus make you feel more like a queen, with a pinch of graceful power mixed in! And here's a little fun fact, did you know that Canada's National Ballet School has an amazing collection of costumes and tutus, some dating back to the early 1900s?! It's like stepping back in time and seeing the history of ballet unfold right before your eyes. We've come a long way since then, and yet, tutus have always managed to hold their allure, whether it’s the ethereal romantic tutu or the sleek elegance of the classical style. Let's keep those tutus twirling, friends! So grab your favorite tulle and twirl on, because Tutu Tuesday is here to make every day feel like a grand premiere! Don't forget to post your Tutu Tuesday snaps with #tututuesday #balletcanada #tutu #amherstnova Scotia Let's show the world how much we love the elegance and beauty of a classic tutu!
