Tutu Tuesday in Leeds and the Thousand Islands, Ontario #tututuesday Hey everyone! It’s your favourite Canadian ballerina, back with another Tutu Tuesday. Today, I'm taking you on a double feature—two fabulous cities, two dazzling tutu moments! Leeds, UK: A Whirlwind of Ballet First stop, Leeds, England! Last week, I had the honour of attending a performance by the Royal Ballet at the Grand Theatre. Talk about a magical evening! The sheer beauty of the choreography, the grace and strength of the dancers—it took my breath away. And the tutus? Oh my! They were everything I dreamt of and more. I spotted some exquisite Romantic tutus with delicate layers of tulle and airy fabrics. Those tutus always remind me of those iconic, whimsical moments from classic ballets. They're the perfect balance of lightness and elegance. Now, my personal favourites from that night? Those would be the contemporary tutus. We saw some incredible designs—bold lines, sharp cuts, a mix of sheer fabrics and rich colours—it was modern ballet at its finest! **I'm all about showcasing the versatility of tutus.** Even beyond ballet, these pieces are fashion icons. Think of the glamorous tutus worn by stars on the red carpet, and all those fab Instagram fashion posts with a tulle skirt thrown in. It's no surprise, really, since these tutus offer endless opportunities to express your personality, whether it’s delicate, dramatic, or quirky. The Thousand Islands, Ontario: A Touch of Elegance by the Water From Leeds to a scenic corner of my home province, Ontario! The Thousand Islands is known for its breathtaking landscapes, crystal-clear water, and cozy charming towns. This place is a perfect blend of nature’s beauty and small-town warmth. So, what better way to experience this region than by throwing on a tutu for a stroll by the water? I opted for a casual, fun tutu - you know, one you can move and twirl in without fussing. You see, I believe every day is a reason to feel pretty and celebrate that bit of whimsy inside you. Whether you’re out for coffee with your friends or taking a scenic drive along the St. Lawrence River, embrace a touch of sparkle, you never know who you’ll inspire. This region really knows how to blend elegance and nature in a magical way, which kind of mirrors ballet, I think. Ballet in Canada As I wrap up this Tutu Tuesday post, I feel a bit nostalgic. From all the hours spent in dance studios in Ontario, Canada’s ballet scene holds a special place in my heart. And let's face it, we have an abundance of amazing talent! We've got some incredible ballet companies—the National Ballet of Canada, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and so many more! Plus, it's so amazing seeing up-and-coming Canadian dancers make their mark on international stages. Tutus and Canada - the perfect combo! It's no surprise that our beautiful country plays a huge part in my journey, from those first steps in dance studios to discovering breathtaking scenery like the Thousand Islands. And I’m so grateful to share those stories and a little dose of tutus with you guys. Keep twirling, everyone! Until next week…
