Tutu Tuesday in Coaticook, Quebec: A Celebration of Dance and Fashion #tututuesday
Hey everyone! It's your girl, Anya, back with another fabulous fashion blog post. Today's theme? You guessed it - Tutu Tuesday! But this isn't your average tutus-on-the-stage affair. Today, we're celebrating the power of tutus to elevate any look, from casual chic to full-blown princess vibes. And what better place to do that than in the charming town of Coaticook, Quebec? It's like stepping back in time, with its quaint cobblestone streets and majestic views of the surrounding mountains. Talk about a picturesque backdrop for a tutu photoshoot!
Now, before I get lost in the magic of Coaticook, let's chat about the stars of the show - the tutus. Let's face it, there's a tutu for every occasion. And, it’s time to bust the myth – tutus aren't just for ballerinas, ok? These are fashion statements ready to be embraced by every girl (or guy, if you're feeling brave). We've got classic Romantic tutus, all layers of ethereal tulle and soft, romantic charm. Picture them flowing in the wind, just like a whimsical ballet scene! Then there are the sassy modern tutus – these ones come in bold colours, are made of materials like leather and are super trendy. You'll be strutting your stuff in these bad boys all day long. Then you have the sassy, bold statement tutu that is like an abstract canvas of colors, feathers, sequins, and anything that speaks to you! The sky’s the limit and your imagination is your only restriction when designing these fabulous statements. This, by the way, is my favourite style, because it's about being a work of art, an ode to expression, and reminding people about the creativity that makes this a uniquely inspiring form of art, be it on the stage or a party!
To kick off Tutu Tuesday, we hit the streets of Coaticook with a diverse ensemble of tutu lovers! We had local dancers from the renowned École de Danse de Coaticook – these are incredibly talented girls and they were sporting both traditional and modern tutu designs to emphasize just how versatile this piece can be. They totally owned their looks, effortlessly gliding through the historic downtown. But Tutu Tuesday was not limited to the ballerina-types, and to show just how fashionably relevant tutus can be in 2023, we included stylists and local artists – some wearing tutus to add a playful element to their street-wear style, others using them to create vibrant photo collages! It was such a mix of beauty and fashion. The message is clear – a tutu can be anything you want it to be.
I think I speak for everyone when I say, we were having a blast. The mood was playful, the laughs were contagious and it truly captured the essence of Coaticook. You know that feeling when the sun is shining, the breeze is cool, and you're surrounded by friendly faces? Yeah, that was us! But besides the great energy and fabulous fashion, we also wanted to show off this gem of a town to the rest of the world.
If you're ever in Quebec, Coaticook is a must-visit! Besides being a feast for the eyes (seriously, the views from the mountains are incredible!), there's something for everyone, from history buffs to outdoor enthusiasts. For example, we spent the afternoon wandering through the Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook, a natural wonder with impressive canyons and waterfalls. It’s easy to see why they call it “Le Petit Canyon” of Quebec.
As the sun began to set, painting the sky in vibrant hues, we wrapped up our Tutu Tuesday festivities with a delicious dinner at La Grange Restaurant. The food was incredible - local ingredients, carefully prepared and bursting with flavour. But it wasn't just the food – it was the feeling of camaraderie that made the evening so special. It was amazing to be surrounded by a community that embraces art, creativity, and most importantly, the joy of dressing up! And we weren’t afraid to be seen in our fun attire - some people were more than happy to join in and have their photos taken with us!
The magic of Tutu Tuesday doesn't end there. This is not just a day, but a way of life – a chance to step out of our comfort zones, embrace individuality, and inject some fun into our daily routines! It's a celebration of life and all the possibilities that come with it!
If you haven't already, grab a tutu and join the fun! This #tututuesday trend is taking over the world – with many cities launching their own themed days – so get creative and be a part of something extraordinary. Share your look with the world, and let's inspire others to dance to the rhythm of their own beat, whether that's in Coaticook, Quebec, or on the other side of the world. See you next Tutu Tuesday!
