Tutu Tuesday in Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval, Quebec: A Celebration of Dance and Style

Hey everyone, it's your girl, Marie-Claire, back with another #tututuesday post! Today, we're venturing out of the studio and into the heart of Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval, Quebec, to celebrate the beautiful fusion of dance and fashion. You might think tutus are just for the stage, but let me tell you, they're making a serious comeback in the world of everyday style! And trust me, you'll want to get your own after seeing these stunning looks.

My first stop was at the charming little boutique "Les Ballets de Laval," where they carry the most amazing selection of tutus you've ever seen! There were the classics, of course, like the traditional romantic tutu, billowing and ethereal. This kind of tutu is the staple of many ballet pieces like the famous 'Giselle,' the timeless classic that embodies the spirit of love and sorrow, with its elegant form. I also loved the playful "American Ballet Theatre tutu." With a vibrant colour palette and playful layered skirts, it reminded me of the contemporary style that often takes over Canadian dance scenes, injecting a bit of personality into ballet.

But beyond the classic tutu styles, the shop had some absolute gems for modern and contemporary ballet styles! You see, in the past couple of years, a modern revival of tutus has emerged on the global dance scene. You see dancers wearing their tutus not only on stage, but on the streets! They’re even experimenting with more adventurous silhouettes and unconventional fabrics.

For the more adventurous souls, there were bold contemporary tutus in daring fabrics. A bold red chiffon tutu that practically whispered “modern dance” screamed a powerful yet elegant style perfect for bold performance. And don't even get me started on the asymmetrical tutus! Those were a dream come true! These designs gave an unconventional shape, they’re making a splash with a statement look with bold colours that can even transcend performance, they're great to be worn for everyday wear!

But it wasn't all about tutus! There were plenty of accessories that made me squeal with delight. From adorable little ballet shoes with glitter to luxurious feather boas that could instantly turn a simple outfit into something fabulous. Seriously, guys, I'm living for this trend! And the best part is, everyone can pull off a tutu. No matter your body type, height, or age, there's a tutu out there for you. So why not rock one?

So why should you jump on the tutu trend? Not only is the tutu making a return as an everyday fashion piece in Canada, but the art form of ballet is also experiencing a renewed passion in our country. Ballet has an exciting future here in Canada, as dance schools and professional dance companies, like the Royal Winnipeg Ballet or The National Ballet of Canada are seeing increased enrolment and young, vibrant new talent! So wearing a tutu can show that you're embracing a form of art that is both elegant and fun and celebrate a truly Canadian passion!

Next, I hit up the local cafes for some #tututuesday inspiration, where I spotted some serious tutu fashion game! People were styling their tutus with everything from denim jackets to leather pants! I even saw a lady in a floral print tutu paired with a black turtleneck, proving that this trend can be adapted to suit any style. It’s all about taking what feels right and pairing it with a bold design!

So there you have it! Tutu Tuesday in Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval, Quebec! Let's all keep the trend alive and spread the love for tutus across Canada.
