Tutu Tuesday in Saint-Paul, Quebec: A Tutu-tastic Celebration of Dance

Itā€™s Tuesday, which means one thing ā€“ #TutuTuesday! And this week, my fellow dance enthusiasts, we're taking this beloved tradition to the charming city of Saint-Paul, Quebec, a place brimming with culture and a touch of European elegance. Here, the streets are practically designed for twirls, and the buildings seem to whisper the melodies of ballet. I just had to document our adventures!

As a dancer in Canada, I am incredibly lucky to experience the rich ballet heritage that surrounds me. From the renowned National Ballet of Canada to the many thriving regional companies, thereā€™s always a place to witness the artistry and grace of ballet. And when it comes to Tutu Tuesday, Quebec knows how to do it right.

We began our day with a visit to the beautiful Parc de la Pointe, where the vibrant autumn leaves mirrored the colorful tutus we were sporting. The air was crisp and fresh, just perfect for some pirouettes. Letā€™s be real - my Instagram feed definitely needed some ā€œTutu in natureā€ action. The stunning backdrop of Saint-Paul and the lush park, oh man! We were photo shoot-ready and ready to dance.

Speaking of tutus, let's talk styles, shall we? Of course, we saw a good variety, ranging from the classic romantic tutus (think layers and layers of soft tulle) to the contemporary, streamlined ones, designed for modern movements. And then, there was my pick - a striking tutu with an unexpected burst of vibrant pink in the midst of its delicate white tulle. Itā€™s edgy, yet ethereal, making me feel powerful yet graceful. This tutu was the epitome of Saint-Paul, you know - classic with a twist. The Parisian influence that the city boasts definitely showed up in my sartorial choices for the day. It was such a delight to see how each person interpreted #TutuTuesday with their unique style, expressing themselves with so much passion and creativity! I saw an elegant powder blue tutu that spoke of vintage ballerina charm. And there was even a sassy black tulle creation that screamed "contemporary". The day was all about expressing yourself and enjoying the beauty of ballet and this awesome little city.

Our adventure didnā€™t end there. We popped into a quaint coffee shop called ā€œLe Chat PerchĆ©ā€ where the warm aroma of fresh pastries greeted us. Over cups of hot cocoa, we swapped ballet stories, admired each otherā€™s tutus, and planned our next #TutuTuesday escapades. Iā€™ve always loved this Canadian tradition of sharing our passion and enjoying it together.

Later, we took a leisurely stroll through the cobblestone streets, stopping at local boutiques filled with artistic treasures and art galleries showcasing the works of talented Quebecois artists. This place felt like it belonged on a movie set - a beautiful picture perfect little European city where we could really connect to our artistic side. The colors of the historic buildings were absolutely captivating as were the vintage shops overflowing with one-of-a-kind finds.

As the sun began its descent, casting long shadows across Saint-Paul, we gathered at the Place dā€™Armes, a stunning square nestled in the heart of the city. This place has a charm of its own, surrounded by historical architecture that creates a picturesque setting. We formed a circle, shared a laugh, and indulged in a spontaneous dance performance. Every movement flowed with an undeniable passion, drawing the eyes of locals and tourists alike. We might be amateurs, but we danced with our hearts, embracing every pirouette and leap. For those few moments, time seemed to slow down and Saint-Paul was ours to twirl through. I can still see those joyful, carefree smiles.

As we left Saint-Paul, I felt an overwhelming sense of joy. Not only did I spend a wonderful #TutuTuesday surrounded by amazing dance enthusiasts but I was reminded that this passion connects people beyond language, beyond borders, beyond even ballet itself.

Our Tutu Tuesday journey continues next week. Until then, spread the love of dance, embrace your inner ballerina, and never hesitate to express your artistic self. #TutuTuesday #SaintPaulQuebec #DanceInCanada #CanadianBallet
