Tutu Tuesday in Beaubassin East, New Brunswick #tututuesday

Hey fellow dance lovers and fashionistas! It’s your girl, Sarah, here, and it’s a glorious Tutu Tuesday! Beaubassin East, New Brunswick is alive with the spirit of ballet today! I'm just getting back from a whirlwind of twirling and I have to share the energy! It's been a fabulous day and the people here really know how to embrace their inner ballerina!

I've been working on a new piece with a group of amazing dancers at the local studio, and you won't believe the tutus we've been rocking! We're pulling out all the stops: romantic tutus with clouds of tulle cascading down to the floor, classic tutus that channel the grand ballerinas of the past, and even a couple of daring modern tutus that push the boundaries of dancewear! But no matter the style, we're all united by our love of the art and the freedom it brings. We're twirling and leaping through the air, expressing ourselves with every movement. It's pure joy!

But enough about me! What's going on in Beaubassin East on this #tututuesday? Here’s a glimpse of my adventures, in all their tulle-tastic glory!

  • First up, a visit to "The Sweetest Treat," the cutest little bakery that happens to have a selection of macarons so perfectly pastel they'd make even the most hardcore minimalist ballerina squeal with delight. We were all sporting Romantic tutus, think fluffy, dreamy layers of tulle. These macarons were basically an edible echo of the romantic vibe! The perfect pick-me-up after a killer rehearsal, and oh, did they pair well with my lemon ginger tea!

Next stop, a bit of window shopping downtown. It was amazing seeing how much tutu love is in the air! People walking their dogs in pastel coloured tutus, kids at the playground twirling in adorable mini tutus! It was enough to make you smile and tap your foot! I saw a bunch of trendy modern tutus with unexpected textures. So many fun colour combinations like a hot pink tutu paired with an olive green ballet jacket. It’s just lovely to see everyone rocking their own unique tutu style! You’ll find inspiration everywhere if you just open your eyes and look around. It made me think of the incredible diversity in Canadian ballet. There's a balletic tradition that goes back centuries. We've got big name ballerinas and companies across the country! Just recently, I caught the most inspiring performance at the National Ballet in Toronto, where they premiered an original ballet inspired by a piece of modern art. We are blessed with so much creative energy! It's so important to support that artistry and celebrate the beauty of dance, both in big city companies and smaller communities like Beaubassin East.

  • Then came a community event at the park that totally had the most ballerinas out in full force. It was all for a great cause! There was even a tutu-themed fashion show - some dancers went all out with their routines, but it was really all about the spirit of the day, and it was truly something special. Seeing people come together with a smile, to move, express, and share a passion! You can really feel that deep Canadian connection that I think the whole world can appreciate - that kindness and generosity that runs right through us, from the smallest village to the largest cities.

It’s been an absolute whirlwind! We stopped in at “La Fleur du Jardine,” a lovely cafe that just had a “Tutu Special.” It was basically a fancy iced latte, with a dollop of whipped cream that made me think of a fluffy classic tutu with a single little strawberry on top! Oh my, you should try it!

As I wind down for the evening, I'm left feeling so inspired by the community spirit in Beaubassin East, New Brunswick. #tututuesday has really resonated in my heart. We live in a time where we all can find our own joy, our own way of expressing our artistry, and it truly doesn't need to be complicated! In the spirit of my Tutu Tuesday adventure, I encourage all of you, no matter where you are, to find a place where your inner dancer can twirl freely! There's beauty to be found everywhere, you just gotta put your best foot forward (or a well-placed pirouette!), and keep an eye out for the joy! See you on the next #tututuesday!
