Tutu Tuesday in Smithers, British Columbia: A Tutu Tale of Two Cities
Hey everyone, and welcome to my blog! Today I'm writing about Tutu Tuesday and celebrating all things tutu. Let's get this tutu party started!

Now, Tutu Tuesday is a fun tradition for ballet dancers all over the world - I mean, how could you not celebrate one of the most beautiful and iconic garments ever designed?!

But as a ballet dancer living in the Canadian city of Smithers, British Columbia, my Tuesday felt a little different, a little…well…Tutu Tuesday. I'm not sure if you've heard of Smithers, BC, but it's a very small town in northern British Columbia - and as much as I love my small-town life, I won't lie, finding a dance studio or a local community of fellow tutu-wearers here can be, well, pretty tough! So, to celebrate Tutu Tuesday, I decided to put my creative (and fashionable!) cap on and give you a little taste of "Tutu Tuesday, Smithers-Style"!

## Tutu Styles
Every ballet dancer has their favourite tutu styles. For me, a classic Romantic tutu never fails to make me feel like a ballerina from a fairy tale - especially those tulle ruffles cascading down from the bodice! You just can't beat that magical feel! And then there are those sleek, modern, sleek tutus. Oh, I adore those streamlined shapes, that modern elegance!

And then there's the tutu everyone loves, the iconic *short tutu*. We all know that classic look: fluffy layers, a single tier or maybe even two - those puffy tulle tutus never get old - you've got the volume!

So, let me ask you: which tutu style is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below, but first, let's talk about *my* special take on #Tututuesday...

## My Smithers Take On Tutu Tuesday: #tututuesday

The only other person I know in town that wears a tutu is the adorable five-year-old girl who studies ballet with the wonderful *Smithers Dance Studio* - yes, *that's* the place to go for the best dance instruction in the *whole* region. I mean, seriously! And when I say this tiny town *has* dance studios, it feels like I'm winning the lottery. If you're *ever* looking to study ballet or want a dance-infused experience, you just *have* to check them out. It's like taking a *time machine* back to the heart of Canadian dance.

My Tuesday celebrations were a bit simpler - because let's face it, my favourite stores that would offer the latest in tutus were pretty far away. It would be so hard to get a *true* dancer-esque look in *my* little town...until I had an idea! It involved lots of digging through the craft stores, scouring online sales for affordable, beautiful materials (it had to have the right feel! ) and more than a bit of ingenuity. But, let's face it - *that* is the essence of Tutu Tuesday in Smithers.

I'll let you know: I went with *that* quintessential fluffy short tutu and I had so much fun with the design!
I used: - **An old piece of lace -** because hey! A girl always needs a little lace in her life. - **Some old ribbons -** it's the quintessential ballerina addition! - **Lots of fluffy tulle (my *signature* element!)-** oh how I *adore* fluffy tulle. The sheerness, the lightness...that magical flow - I couldn't have done it without it! - **Lots of sparkling craft jewels-** a little touch of magic...every girl loves glitter!

And with some stitching and creativity...I had the *best* Smithers, BC #Tututuesday!

What about you? What makes your Tuesday special? Let me know in the comments below! Remember to use the hashtag #Tututuesday - I can't wait to see what you come up with. You know what, *even if* it's *not* a tutu-themed day, tag it with #Tututuesday! Maybe that can *make* the day!
Have an awesome week, and until next time, dance your heart out.
