Tutu Tuesday in Goulds, Newfoundland and Labrador: A Whirlwind of Tutu Styles & #tututuesday Inspiration

Hey everyone! It's your girl, Claire, back with another exciting post! This time, we're taking a trip to the east coast, all the way to Goulds, Newfoundland and Labrador. Why? You ask? Well, it's #tututuesday of course! As a professional dancer who’s passionate about sharing the beauty and joy of ballet with everyone, I had to highlight the fantastic tutus happening on the east coast.

It's Tuesday morning in Goulds, the air crisp and full of promise. The coffee's brewing, the sunshine is out, and I'm ready to share the magic of tutus with you. While most people might think of New York, London, or Paris when it comes to ballet, let me tell you, there's an incredible ballet scene happening right here in Canada.

So, why a post dedicated to Goulds, Newfoundland? Let me explain: Goulds is this adorable little town just outside of St. John's. It's full of charm and a bit of "down home" energy, perfect for enjoying a casual, yet sophisticated Tuesday with your favourite tulle skirt!

Here's the lowdown: While I wasn't actually dancing on the stage of a Goulds theatre, there are amazing tutus all around the town. Just imagine… you’re strolling through the quaint downtown area on a sunny Tuesday afternoon, maybe grabbing a yummy cinnamon bun from a local bakery. You catch a glimpse of a playful tutu peeking from a store window or someone is wearing the most beautiful blush-colored tutu on their way to a ballet class at the Goulds Community Center. It's this beautiful intersection of everyday life and the world of dance that makes me adore Tutu Tuesdays!

  • And speaking of tutus, you all know I love my tulle! There are so many beautiful styles, from the classic romantic ballerina tutu to the dramatic, almost fierce, contemporary ones. It's no surprise I spotted a couple of really cool tutus in Goulds:
    • First off, a long, tiered tutu with an ombre pattern. It’s so visually interesting, and honestly, pretty magical in its own right.
    • And the second, a beautiful pencil tutu, it's kind of a cross between a tutu and a pencil skirt! You can dress it up or down; it's just perfect. I thought I spotted it in the windows of the The Goulds Gallery and Craft Shop. They're a local treasure.
  • The point of Tutu Tuesday is about more than just tutus, though. It’s about making the world a little more glamorous. So I’m using it as a reminder to wear our passions on our sleeves, just like our ballet dancers, with their gorgeous tutus and amazing talent.
  • But even better, I’m challenging everyone, no matter where you are, to make your Tuesday fabulous. Maybe wear something that makes you feel confident, grab your favourite friend for lunch, and go out for a dance in the afternoon.
  • From my journey through Newfoundland, I've learned it's not just about tutus - it’s about the enthusiasm people in Newfoundland show for all things dance. They demonstrate a passion that can only come from true love of ballet and everything it represents - creativity, hard work, resilience, and beauty, and it's inspiring.

Okay, my lovelies, that's it for this #tututuesday adventure.
