Tutu Tuesday in Saint-Etienne-des-Gres, Quebec: A Celebration of Dance and Style

Hey dance lovers and fashionistas! It’s your girl, Chloe here, ready to bring you the latest and greatest from the world of ballet, fashion, and everything in between! Today’s all about the beautiful, the graceful, and oh-so-fabulous tutu – yes, it's Tutu Tuesday!

As a ballerina myself, I have to say, there’s just something about the classic tutu that makes me feel like I can soar. There’s an undeniable sense of artistry, tradition, and undeniable femininity to it – a powerful combination. But, hold on! We’re not talking about the traditional, one-size-fits-all tutu. We’re talkin’ about the tutu in all its variations!

We’re here in the heart of Saint-Etienne-des-Gres, Quebec, and the vibe today is pure Tutu Tuesday energy! From the traditional romantic tutus, often made from multiple layers of tulle and characterized by their long, flowing skirts and are often adorned with lace or beading – to the streamlined, modern tutus with their sleek lines and minimalistic designs - you’ve got it all! There are also the whimsical character tutus, designed to evoke the personality of a particular role in a ballet which are so much fun and are the epitome of dramatic flair. But my personal fave, you guys, is the pas de bourrée tutu! This is my dance style – these tutus are known for their shorter length, designed to accentuate the speed and precision of this specific dance form. You could say I’m a little partial, but I swear, when those tutus twirl… pure magic. 🩰

But this is more than just a fashion post, Tutu Tuesday is a chance to explore ballet’s diverse history. It's a chance to celebrate ballet in Canada, to honor the hard work and dedication of Canadian dancers! Did you know that Canadian ballet has a rich history?
