Tutu Tuesday in Saint-Prosper, Quebec: A Celebration of Dance and Fashion

It's Tutu Tuesday in Saint-Prosper, Quebec, and I'm here to celebrate all things dance and fashion. The air is crisp, the leaves are changing, and my fellow dancers and I are strutting our stuff in tutus. I know you might think tutus are only for ballerinas on stage, but trust me, this classic dancewear piece is versatile, elegant and super-stylish. As a passionate ballet dancer and blogger in my 20s, I believe that every day is a good day to wear a tutu! They're not just for the dance studio, they can take you from a casual coffee run to a formal gala! Think about it - tutus are the perfect way to inject some fun and whimsy into your wardrobe. You might be thinking, "But they are only for dancing?" I disagree, think of a full or romantic tutu paired with a chic blazer and leather boots! I can almost hear the compliments already - "OMG, where did you get that look!?" So, embrace the tutus, gals! For my #tututuesday look today, I've opted for a classic romantic tutu with a pale pink satin bodice. The tulle is multilayered with soft and flowy layers creating an airy and feminine silhouette that just swishes perfectly as I walk. To add a touch of urban flair, I paired my tutu with black leather ankle boots and a oversized, slouchy knit sweater. You don't need to be a ballet dancer to wear a tutu; it's about finding the style that best suits you and feeling confident and beautiful. Here in Saint-Prosper, we have a fantastic ballet scene. We have some really talented young dancers here at our local ballet company. The teachers here really take the time to cultivate the young dancers passion and to guide them in the art form. There are even more classes in Montreal and Quebec City! I think there are ballet companies in just about every province in Canada! From classical ballet, to modern, contemporary, and everything in-between the dance scene in Canada is super dynamic and always pushing boundaries. Let's delve deeper into the different types of tutus and their unique style and purpose. * Romantic Tutu: Romantic tutus are designed to move gracefully. They feature many layers of soft tulle, giving them a voluminous and airy look. They are commonly used for romantic ballet pieces like Giselle. * Classical Tutu: This iconic tutu is renowned for its tight bodice, very short skirt, and circular layers. The skirt usually stops right at the hips and makes for a sharp and geometric look. It is traditionally used for pieces like Swan Lake or The Nutcracker. * Contemporary Tutu: The contemporary tutu is much more fluid than its classical counterpart and has more layers. The contemporary tutu often involves fabrics like silk or velvet with subtle accents, which makes it a very expressive garment, for example, for contemporary ballet pieces or a ballet company production with an alternative or abstract look and feel. For my Tutu Tuesday celebrations, I love to incorporate my personal style into my tutu outfits. Here are some tips for styling a tutu: * Layer with warmth. Even if you love your romantic tutu, don't forget it can get a little chilly outside in the Quebec winter! Paired with tights or a slouchy sweater your tutu can go just about anywhere! * Pair with sneakers or boots. You can definitely rock a tutu with sneakers or ankle boots - especially with the rise of the comfy and stylish Athleisure trend. Sneakers can make a fun casual look with a classic tutu or even the more contemporary style! * Experiment with colours. Black or pink are classic colors. But don't be afraid to wear colourful tutus to match a favourite outfit or accent. Green, blue or yellow tutus are very eye-catching and would look fabulous against the fall foliage! * Accessorize with a scarf, hat, or bag. Let your creativity shine, your tutu will definitely become the centerpiece of your ensemble but it can also complement your favorite fall accessories. This #tututuesday, take a chance, grab your favorite tutu and express your inner dancer. As you strut your stuff, don't forget to snap some photos of your ensemble, use the hashtag #tututuesday. Don't be afraid to experiment, get creative, and have fun! And if you're in Saint-Prosper, I can't wait to see your stylish ensembles! I'm off to dance! See ya on the dance floor!
