Tutu Tuesday in Saint-Anaclet-de-Lessard, Quebec: A Ballet Blogger’s Take on Tutu Trends
Hey, fashionistas! It’s your girl, Claire, back with another #tututuesday post. This week, I decided to ditch the city bustle and head to Saint-Anaclet-de-Lessard, Quebec, a charming little town nestled in the heart of the province. While Saint-Anaclet might not be the first place that springs to mind for fashion inspiration, I’ve gotta tell you, the quaint streets and the relaxed vibes of this little gem totally got me feeling creative! And you know what goes hand-in-hand with creativity? TutUs! #tututuesday
Now, when you think of tutus, chances are images of the classic romantic ballet tutu pop into your head. You know the ones, made with multiple layers of tulle and often paired with a fitted bodice. These romantic tutus, while always stunning, can sometimes feel a little... well, formal for everyday wear. Don't get me wrong, a romantic tutu paired with a simple white tee and denim jacket is an amazing casual look. I tried it out this past Tuesday in Saint-Anaclet, but, I wanted to show you guys how to make tutus work for any occasion. It was Tutu Tuesday after all.
So, what else is out there besides those dreamy, traditional tutus? Let me tell ya, the tutu world is way more diverse than you might think! For starters, we have the *Demi-tutu*, or the "half-tutu", which features fewer layers than the classic tutu. These bad boys are perfect for showcasing a dancer's legs and add a hint of ballerina elegance to your outfit, which is a personal favourite. Just a heads-up, they also come in a *tulle variation* or *tutu dress* for extra flare and options!
Next up we've got the *Platform tutu*. These guys rock a longer length, hitting the knee or even below, offering a slightly more edgy, less whimsical feel that I absolutely love. There's an air of strength and sophistication about them, making them ideal for more contemporary fashion outings. I actually wore a *platform tutu* with a leather jacket and combat boots during my *Tutu Tuesday* stroll down Saint-Anaclet's main street - it was the perfect combo of edgy and feminine! It also gave off an '80s throwback vibe. #tutu
And let's not forget the *ballet skirt*! This modern twist on the tutu has become an essential item in every ballerina's closet. And honestly, it deserves a place in everyone’s closet, no matter what your dancing background or style. Ballet skirts, are super versatile, blending ballet aesthetics with a streetwear sensibility, They're made with a variety of materials from cotton to pleather, creating endless options for different looks. To add a subtle *Tutu Tuesday* vibe, I sported a pleated *ballet skirt* with a black graphic tee and some chunky sneakers – comfort and style, always a winning combination!
One of the things I love about Saint-Anaclet is its tight-knit community spirit. It's evident everywhere you look, from the welcoming smiles of locals to the charming, family-owned shops. In a little antique shop tucked away on a side street, I found an amazing vintage *ballet skirt* from the '90s – It was just screaming to be worn! Now, this vintage baby was all about those flowy, pleated, super voluminous vibes. I paired it with a black cropped sweater, creating a cool juxtaposition between the vintage vibe of the tutu and the modern feel of the sweater! The ultimate *tutu and throwback * combination!
Of course, no Tutu Tuesday is complete without mentioning ballet in Canada. Canada boasts an impressive and vibrant ballet scene! The National Ballet of Canada in Toronto and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal are just two examples of world-class ballet companies performing to packed houses across the country. With talented dancers, choreographers, and companies all around Canada, the artistry of ballet truly flourishes in our amazing nation. You can check out other amazing Canadian dancers like myself on our #tututuesday, where you'll find our personal *tutu and style * preferences!
So, there you have it – a quick tour of the diverse world of tutus, straight from my #tututuesday journey through Saint-Anaclet-de-Lessard, Quebec. Now go out there and express your inner ballerina, wherever you may be. From the romantic, traditional tutus to the modern and edgy platform versions, let's Embrace those Tutu Tuesdays, gals and guys.
