Tutu Tuesday in Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre, Quebec: A Whirlwind of Pointe Shoes and Provincial Charm

Bonjour from Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre, Quebec! The air is crisp, the fall foliage is bursting with vibrant colours, and… I'm sporting my favourite tutu! Yes, it's Tutu Tuesday, a weekly tradition I've started on my blog, and today I'm bringing the magic of dance to this picturesque town.

Let me tell you, finding the perfect Tutu for this adventure was no easy feat! With my dance bag packed with my trusty pointe shoes, I carefully selected a tutu that would complement the beauty of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre. My eyes fell upon a stunning romantic tutu with layers of soft tulle in a shade of lavender, echoing the delicate lilac blooms scattered across the gardens of the Basilica. A touch of shimmering gold embroidery gave it a bit of regal elegance, a perfect match for the basilica's impressive architecture.

As a Canadian ballerina, I find myself drawn to the rich dance history of this country. From the pioneering steps of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet to the thriving contemporary scenes in cities like Toronto and Montreal, ballet in Canada holds a special place in my heart. So, here I was, a ballet dancer in Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre, eager to find the spirit of dance in a place steeped in history.

First, we headed to the majestic Basilica. It was the perfect backdrop for a tutu photo shoot! Built in the 17th century, this historic basilica is known for its elaborate wooden carvings and impressive architecture, all intricately sculpted in a beautiful gothic style. As I gracefully spun, my tutu fluttering around me, I felt a strong connection to the generations of dancers who had come before me. It was almost like their steps were whispering secrets into the grand halls of the Basilica.

Then, we embarked on a scenic drive through the charming countryside of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre. From quaint little towns to breathtaking panoramic vistas, the beauty of Quebec was everywhere we looked. And me? I twirled along the way! My tutu seemed to embrace the wind and twirl with the grace of the birch trees dancing along the roadside. There were plenty of stops for pictures and it became a impromptu impromptu dance photoshoot. There's something incredibly freeing about twirling in a tutu!

We took a lunch break at the iconic Maison de la Colline, a beautiful building perched atop a hill that gives stunning views over the village of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre and the St. Lawrence River. My tutu was a great conversation starter! Fellow travellers were so intrigued to hear about the "Tutu Tuesday" tradition and my passion for ballet. It truly felt like I was spreading a bit of ballet magic to the quaint countryside.

Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre is a place where history, faith, and beauty converge. And to have my tutu, a symbol of grace and artistry, dance through these enchanting streets was a magical experience. It reminded me how dance can transform even the most ordinary of places into a stage for dreams and creativity.

I highly recommend visiting Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre! If you ever get the chance, make sure you have your favourite tutu ready to wear.

Until next time, happy twirling, fellow dance lovers!
