Tutu Tuesday in Sainte-Genevieve-de-Berthier, Quebec

Hey, fellow dance lovers! It's your girl, Camille, back with another post from my little corner of the world, Sainte-Genevieve-de-Berthier, Quebec. As you know, Tuesday's are for twirling and, today, we're all about the tutu!

Let's be honest, a tutu is more than just a costume, it's an icon! It's the symbol of grace, dedication and all things ballet. Whether it's a classic Romantic tutu, like those seen in the famous Swan Lake, or a modern contemporary tutu, maybe a more layered and dramatic number, there's a style for every dancer out there.

Being a professional dancer in Canada, I've been lucky enough to twirl in a multitude of tutus over the years. From the bright, airy and fluffy romantic tutus of "Giselle," to the more streamlined and dynamic contemporary pieces I've had the chance to wear for various contemporary dance works, every tutu tells a story, every stitch is a statement.

And now, with my #TutuTuesday blog, I want to celebrate that. Let's talk tutu trends and get those dance feels flowing, eh?

Today, we're digging into the magic of a romantic tutu, a timeless piece that exudes ethereal beauty.

  • **The Romantic Tutu:** Oh, the elegance of the romantic tutu! It’s a timeless piece, that evokes images of sugar plum fairies and elegant ballerinas. Made with multiple layers of tulle and usually worn with a bodice or a romantic, draped top, the romantic tutu creates a floating, ethereal illusion.
  • **Finding the Perfect Fit:** It's all about finding that perfect fit. A good romantic tutu will skim your body, creating that graceful line that's synonymous with classical ballet. You need enough layers of tulle for the tutu to have that dramatic, dreamy volume but not too many layers that it becomes bulky or hinders your movements.
  • **Tutu Time:** For those of you thinking about dipping your toes (no pun intended) into the world of tutu-wearing, remember that tutus need time and attention. From choosing the right fabric and tailoring the design to ensuring the bodice fits flawlessly, the craft of making a tutu is intricate and deserves appreciation.

From the grand stages of Canada’s major dance companies to the smaller studios across the country, the tutu is a beloved staple. We've got passionate dancers all over, wearing tutus, exploring, creating and sharing their love for dance. We're all connected through this amazing art form.

So, no matter where you're located, join the #Tututuesday movement, get your twirl on, share a photo and remember, "tutu cute" is the new "to die for".

Keep those dance shoes laced up,

Camille
