Tutu Tuesday in Saint-Quentin, New Brunswick: A Celebration of All Things Tutu! #tututuesday

Hey everyone, it's your girl, Anya here, back with another post from my little corner of the Canadian ballet world! Today, I'm so excited to talk about a little tradition I've started here in Saint-Quentin, New Brunswick: Tutu Tuesday!

Let's be honest, there's just something magical about a tutu. They embody the beauty and grace of ballet, and they make you feel like a total princess, no matter your age! So, on Tuesdays, I've been encouraging my fellow dance enthusiasts, and honestly, just anyone who wants to join in, to rock their tutus, whether it's a classic, romantic, or even a whimsical, modern number.

Last week, we had a blast! We saw everything from classic white tutus, like the ones we wear in the studio, to colourful, sequined creations that looked straight out of a fairytale. I even spotted a few girls rocking tutu-inspired outfits with tulle skirts, which I have to say, was a pretty clever twist! It was so much fun to see how everyone expressed their personal style with tutus.

Tutu Tuesday has been an awesome way to spread the joy of ballet beyond the walls of the studio. It's also become a fantastic way to connect with fellow dancers and make some new friends. Even if you're not a ballerina yourself, there's no doubt that you'll feel a bit of magic wearing a tutu! So, whether you're at the coffee shop, running errands, or just chilling at home, feel free to join us!

Of course, the main point of Tutu Tuesday is all about celebrating ballet! We love ballet here in Canada, and I'm proud to see the community thriving in our beautiful province of New Brunswick. It's not just about performing; it's about discipline, creativity, and finding the joy in movement. Tutu Tuesday is a reminder that these values are relevant to all of us, and that we can express them in our own unique way.

Speaking of tutus, let's dive into a little bit of fashion fun, shall we? There are so many different kinds of tutus out there, from the classics to the ultra-modern.

Here's a quick rundown of some popular tutu styles:

  • The Romantic Tutu: Think graceful, flowing, and romantic, with layers upon layers of soft tulle. Think “Giselle.” This tutu is designed to accentuate the ballerina’s ethereal movement.
  • The Classical Tutu: Often referred to as a "short tutu," the Classical Tutu has a fitted bodice and a short, layered skirt. Think "Swan Lake" - graceful and powerful, emphasizing athleticism and elegance.
  • The Modern Tutu: A departure from the traditional, the modern tutu might use more unusual fabrics like silk, mesh, or even chiffon. Think abstract and expressive - these designs are about celebrating the contemporary spirit.
  • The "Fancy" Tutu: For Tutu Tuesday, feel free to go wild and let your inner fairy shine! Sequins, rhinestones, feathers, and vibrant colours - the sky’s the limit! This one is for the party animal in all of us.

Now, here are a few ideas on how you can make the most of Tutu Tuesday:

  • Get your Tutu on!: It doesn’t need to be an actual tutu from a dance studio; you can use a tulle skirt, a DIY tulle creation, or even an outfit inspired by the elegance of a ballerina!
  • Share your style!: Snap some photos, share them on social media, and don’t forget to use #tututuesday and tag @AnyasBalletBlog so I can check them out!
  • Be a ballerina for a day: You can’t always go to ballet class, but we can still feel the joy of movement on Tutu Tuesday. Get out there and enjoy yourself!
  • Find other tutu lovers: Reach out to dancers in your community, use hashtags like #balletlove #canada, or check out your local dance studios for classes. It's a great way to build connections and have some fun!
  • And lastly, don’t forget to embrace your inner ballerina: Tutus, and the joy they represent, should be for everyone! We can all find a little grace and elegance in ourselves - and a little playful confidence when rocking our Tutu Tuesday look!

That's it for this Tutu Tuesday! I can't wait to see you all rocking your tutus out there, embracing the joy of dance, and inspiring each other. Spread the Tutu love, Canada!

Love, Anya
