Tutu Tuesday in Blucher, Saskatchewan: #tututuesday

Hey, tutu lovers! It’s your girl, Clara, back with another installment of Tutu Tuesday, and today we’re taking the tutus on the road…or, more accurately, the prairie! Yep, I’m in Blucher, Saskatchewan, folks, the heart of the Canadian prairies. This week, I wanted to bring a little ballet magic to a place that’s perhaps not known for its pirouette prowess. But who knows? Maybe this little foray into tutudom will spark some pirouette passion in this neck of the woods!

As you might know, the history of ballet in Canada is actually pretty rich. The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, for example, was founded way back in 1939, and there are so many incredible dancers, teachers, and studios scattered across the country. It’s just…sometimes, you’ve got to get out of the big cities, into the small towns, to truly spread the tutu love!

Now, let’s talk about today’s tutu ensemble! Because there's just no other way to express this — the tutu is my outfit of the day, every single Tuesday, and I’m not apologizing for that. This week, I chose to sport a classic romantic tutu. It’s a blush pink, multi-layered beauty that feels as dreamy and romantic as a Saskatchewan sunset (or so I hear! 😉). This little number, however, isn’t the only style on the table when it comes to tutus. There are tons of varieties for those who want to add some serious sparkle to their look. Let's just say, if you’re looking to rock a tutus, there’s definitely something for everyone!

  • Romantic tutus, like the one I wore today, are all about delicate layers of tulle and flowing fabric. These ones are a classic, elegant choice that's perfect for dancing under the stars or even a weekend stroll.
  • Classical tutus: These are the ones you picture when you think of traditional ballet, you know? Usually white, they tend to have multiple layers and a stiff shape, designed to add some extra grandeur. Think Swan Lake.
  • Contemporary tutus: It’s all about moving away from the rigid shapes and incorporating more texture, color, and unconventional shapes. The beauty? It makes it a more versatile and interesting dance piece, and you can often mix in layers of sheer fabrics or heavier materials,

But, I digress…Back to Blucher! To really showcase the beauty of this charming town, we started our Tutu Tuesday exploration at the iconic Blucher Grain Elevators. Talk about photo-ops, right?! Now, don’t think I didn’t have my fair share of graceful twirls in front of these iconic Canadian prairie structures – I did, and believe me, the photos are to die for! Speaking of photo ops, you guys really need to check out the town’s charming and oh-so-cute Blucher Historical Society museum! The stories, the architecture, the vibe—they were perfect backdrops for a few tutu pics. Plus, there’s always something super cool and surprising in the history of the smaller Canadian towns that you wouldn’t get in a big city.

If you ever find yourself cruising through Blucher, Saskatchewan, and you want to make sure your #tututuesday Instagram game is strong, don't forget these pro-tips!

  • **The classic backdrop: Embrace the prairie magic:** Saskatchewan's vast open skies make the perfect setting for any dancer who wants to stretch out their limbs! But remember, be prepared! Those skies are big, and those winds… they can be wild.
  • **Pick the right tutu for your vibe**: Whether you’re a total drama queen (because let’s be real, I think I’m an all-out drama queen sometimes) or more about understated elegance, choose a tutu style that feels authentically you.

One thing’s for sure: after experiencing Blucher’s warm hospitality and vibrant community spirit, I’m not just a dancer anymore; I’m a tutu enthusiast with an unwavering belief in the power of dance, even in the smallest of towns. And hey, if you’re a dancer or even just a fan, I urge you to venture out, to discover the magical dance hidden in every corner of Canada. And hey, maybe… just maybe, Blucher will be your next tutu destination!
