Tutu Tuesday in Bow Island, Alberta: A Celebration of Dance and Fashion It's Tuesday, which means it's #Tututuesday, and my heart is aflutter with excitement! As a professional ballerina, and a proud Canadian, I just *have* to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the tutu. Not just any tutu though โ€“ I'm talking about the classics. The romantic tutus that made ballet so iconic: The Romantic tutu, with its billowing layers and airy lightness; the tutu ร  la 'La Sylphide' and it's ethereal romanticism; the dramatic, sweeping lines of the 'Giselle' tutu, so full of passion; or the tutu ร  la 'Swan Lake' with it's graceful simplicity. And letโ€™s not forget the classical tutu with its perfect shape that creates the illusion of a flowing, ethereal form. But it's not just about the traditional tutus โ€“ contemporary ballet also embraces amazing tutus! Weโ€™re seeing modern, more minimalist designs; innovative colour palettes; and an emphasis on texture. And for these contemporary tutus, there are a multitude of choices. There are the whimsical styles and the bold modern interpretations. And I'm so lucky to have access to so many amazing tutus, both classical and contemporary, right here in Canada. From the professional dancers at the National Ballet School to the countless independent studios across the country, the Canadian ballet scene is alive and vibrant with passion for the dance! But #Tututuesday is also about fun. It's a chance for all of us, no matter where we are in the world, to express ourselves through our love of dance. So don't be afraid to embrace your inner ballerina and get creative! Whether you're whipping up a DIY tutu from scratch or simply throwing on your favourite ballet skirt, there's no wrong way to celebrate #Tututuesday! So how do you celebrate #Tututuesday? * Start a fashion challenge. * You and your friends can create your own unique, innovative designs, perhaps using some simple materials. It could be as easy as incorporating ballet fabric and adding ribbon. * Head to your local ballet studio and watch a performance. It's a fantastic way to celebrate ballet culture. * Check out online ballet resources. Take in an amazing ballet performance virtually โ€“ a beautiful way to explore dance. * Go for a ballet-inspired photo shoot! Dress up and explore a unique part of your community that creates an ethereal, balletic vibe. It can be a local park or any space you think could look magical! * Start a conversation about the magic of tutus! No matter how you celebrate it, I encourage you to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the tutu! * **Tip:** The traditional Romantic tutus require extra attention in care to prevent breakage. Hand washing is best, in cool water, and lay them flat to dry. Never twist them! So grab your ballet shoes and your best tutu (or whatever sparks joy and creativity), and let's celebrate dance in style. #Tututuesday!
