You might not know this, but Alberta has been a hub for ballet since the early 20th century. We have a proud tradition of world-class dancers and teachers who have contributed immensely to the art form. This tradition continues today, with Valleyview's own Ballet Academy inspiring the next generation of dancers. My afternoon in Valleyview started with a visit to the town's vibrant downtown core. I immediately fell in love with the quaint shops, cafes, and the warmth of the locals. After grabbing a delicious, hand-crafted latte from the locally owned coffee shop (complete with a sprinkle of rainbow sprinkles!), I set out to explore the town's creative energy. I was excited to see that a group of enthusiastic youngsters were meeting at the community centre for their weekly "Tutus and Tiaras" workshop. Sparkling crowns, elaborate diadems, and even a few whimsical butterfly hairpieces - each girl (and boy, because yes, the boys were just as enthusiastic about their tiaras) was ready to take on the world with a twinkle in their eye! Now, the highlight of my afternoon was, without a doubt, witnessing these young dancers' pure passion and joy for expressing themselves. They twirled with their arms outstretched, leaping and bounding across the studio floor with the most contagious energy you can imagine. I couldn't help but join in, and even a fellow reporter (dressed in his best bowtie) caught the twirling bug and gave a surprisingly graceful pirouette! It's clear that in Valleyview, everyone is a dancer at heart. We even managed to get some pictures with a couple of local mascots, a larger-than-life bear mascot from the town's annual bear festival (complete with a sparkly tutu, of course!) and a sassy penguin (who wouldn't budge without his own tiara!) . I think that sums up the whole vibe of the day – everyone was just so willing to embrace the playful spirit of #tututuesday and create something special, and, well, who doesn't love a little magic in their lives?
