Tutu Tuesday in Middleton, Nova Scotia: #tututuesday Hey, dance lovers! It's your girl, Chloe, back with another post all about my favourite thing - tutus! It's Tutu Tuesday, and I'm sharing some style inspiration with you all from my hometown, Middleton, Nova Scotia. It's a small town but it has big dreams, and believe me, we love tutus here. We all know the traditional romantic tutu, the one we associate with ballerinas twirling on pointe shoes. It's the classic, the iconic, the forever. Think tulle and feathers, pink and white, graceful and airy. But, it’s not all we’ve got. You can also rock the more contemporary tutu, you know the one with its more structured, edgier aesthetic, bold colours, and fun shapes? There's so much versatility in a tutu. I always get excited about this day because we get to really express ourselves with the ultimate dancewear statement. Let’s explore some Tutu Tuesday inspiration, shall we? • **The Middleton Museum's Ballet Showcase:** Okay, imagine this: you walk into the Middleton Museum, and there's this display case dedicated to the history of ballet in Canada. Stunning, right? You see all kinds of gorgeous tutus. There are romantic tutus from the Victorian era, classical tutus, the tutu worn by Canada's first ballerina to tour the world. Then you have these vibrant tutus from contemporary dancers like Marie-Claire Hampton, and it's all a reminder of how this art form has evolved, especially here in Canada! • **Lunchtime Fun:** It’s Tutu Tuesday and it’s also time to grab lunch at “The Little Corner Café,” it’s one of my favourite spots. But hold up - their weekly specials are super cute and tutu-themed too! Last week was their “Tutu Tuesday special - Mini-Ballet Burger, fries, and a “Tutu Twist” milkshake. It was the perfect tutu-inspired treat. They’re like our secret Tutu Tuesday tradition, a little dance-inspired energy shot in the middle of the week. • **Shopping at the local vintage stores:** In Middleton, you can always find treasures tucked away in vintage shops like “Aunt Peggy’s Closet.” My best finds so far? A super cute vintage black tutu, so short and sassy! Perfect for channeling my inner “Black Swan.” Then, last week I found this beautiful pale blue romantic tutu with delicate floral embroidery that looked like it came straight from the 1950s. There's nothing better than finding the perfect vintage piece to give your Tutu Tuesday outfit a little history and charm. • **Let’s talk about the Middleton Parks & Rec tutu competition:** This is probably the highlight of our Tutu Tuesday - It’s where our passion for dance, fun, and fashion really shine. Every week, the Middleton Parks & Recreation hosts a tutu contest, and boy oh boy, does it get competitive! It's like "America's Next Top Model" meets “Dancing with the Stars." The participants showcase all sorts of looks, from elegant to wacky. The Middleton Public Library's Ballet workshop - it's for anyone and everyone who wants to learn the basics. We practice all the fundamental positions of ballet. They actually host it in their main hall and it’s so cool. Last week, one of the dance instructors was sharing stories about some of the greatest ballet dancers from Canada like Veronica Tennant, and it got us talking about their performances with tutus that really captured the spirit of Canadian artistry! We even practiced some of their moves with our own little "Tutu Twirl Competition." As you can see, Middleton knows how to celebrate the power of tutus. #tututuesday is a fun day that makes us laugh, be creative, express ourselves, and feel connected to the art of ballet and to each other. And when it comes to showing our support for ballet, we definitely do it in style! A quick note about style tips for you fellow dancers out there. The Tutu Hack:** Don't limit yourself to traditional colours or styles. Look for tutus with layers - that give your look more dimension. Go bold with the colors, the fabrics, the embellishments. Add a belt for more definition or some sparkly fabric for a dazzling look. You can even wear them over jeans or leggings for a casual everyday look that reminds you of your ballet roots. Tutus have endless styling options, especially with a touch of creativity! Let’s keep the #tututuesday love going! Tag me on your posts! I can’t wait to see you in your Tutu Tuesday style, you can never be too creative. Until next week, keep on twirling and keep the passion for ballet alive. #tututuesday
