Tutu Tuesday in Piney, Manitoba #tututuesday Hey everyone! It's your girl, Chloe, here, back with another exciting post all about the wonderful world of ballet – and, of course, my absolute favourite day of the week: **Tutu Tuesday!** So, I'm in Piney, Manitoba, right now, where the crisp autumn air makes the red and gold leaves rustle like a beautiful, slow ballet. It’s a place where the scenery, like the countryside landscapes that inspired the Group of Seven artists, is practically a masterpiece in itself. I love visiting the small town of Piney because, let’s be honest, nothing feels more magical than donning my favourite tutu in a beautiful location where you feel surrounded by inspiration. I’ve gotta tell you, Piney is not the first place that springs to mind when you think about a ballet hotbed. There’s something beautiful about that, though. We all know about the established Canadian ballet scene – the National Ballet of Canada, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet – you name it, they’ve got it. But I love being a bit of a rebel and going where ballet's unexpected. Piney is definitely where I found that unexpected. Today I’m all about embracing the romanticism of ballet – and I’m loving it! For those of you who don't know me, I'm a total Tutu Tuesday fan, a ballerina with a passion for everything stylish. My closet's a veritable cornucopia of tulle! When I get dressed up for #tututuesday, it's not just a tutu. It's about letting your creativity run wild. I've got every colour imaginable, every shape you can dream of. I have my classic romantic tutu, a billowing masterpiece of white with a touch of silver; a daring crimson number that makes my heart beat faster when I put it on; even a funky one with an iridescent blue that shimmers in the sunlight. It's all about celebrating how tulle and feathers, when combined, can be pure magic. Here are some tutu trends I’m absolutely loving for this season: • **The Classical Romantic Tutu** There’s no way I can go a Tutu Tuesday without giving some love to the classics. It’s got a short, flouncy skirt that’s made with layers and layers of soft tulle. The whole thing is held up by a simple waistband, perfect for showing off your figure (and, if you’re like me, you work pretty hard for your ballerina body!) These are usually white or cream and always scream grace and beauty, and they can even be personalized with little accents, like feathers or ribbons, to make them unique. I've always had a soft spot for them because there’s such an air of timeless beauty about them. • **The Modern Ballet Tutu** In the world of modern ballet, tutus are, well, let's say, a little more ‘out of the box’ if that makes sense. I’m a bit obsessed with modern tutus. Some are super structured and sleek – others are all about loose, fluid movements, or layered for extra impact. They’re great for creating powerful looks and breaking free of the traditions of classical ballet. This might not be for everyone, but for me, the fun is in embracing the art of ballet in different forms, and finding how the look plays off of its traditional counterparts. • **The Tutu That’s Perfect For a Night Out** There’s always a night where I say to myself, “Okay Chloe, tonight, we’re going for an unconventional night out. Let’s turn heads!”. I mean, it's almost as if a night out in a beautiful tutu is begging to be experienced. It makes a simple date night seem like something truly special – I can just imagine twirling around on the dance floor. If you're planning to let your tutu work its magic, then just think of all the amazing outfits you could make! Just pair a bold statement tutu with your go-to black top or blazer, and you’ve got yourself an absolutely perfect outfit! I know what you’re thinking, "Will people think I'm going to the ballet?". The answer? Who cares. Confidence is key – a good tutu can definitely pull it off. The Unexpected Connection to Ballet in Piney Here's the cool thing: you would be surprised by how deeply intertwined ballet and a rural town in Manitoba actually are! * My friend Sarah, a local arts advocate who’s been visiting Piney for years, told me about a charming little local theater they have in the area – you know, a cute place with those classic red seats. It used to host travelling ballet companies. A whole lot of history exists between the two. * But the biggest surprise was the unexpected community engagement with dance that blossomed from it. While ballet performances became rarer over the years, it seems it had a real impact. I went on a tour with a group of local women, a group of women that called themselves “The Ballet Bunch,” to a special art exhibit at the Piney Heritage Centre. They were incredibly knowledgeable about their region's rich art history, including its dance connection, and the passion they had for ballet, particularly in light of its deep roots, was truly contagious. It brought to life the enduring spirit of ballet in this part of Canada and made me realize it’s all around us if you look for it! My little trip to Piney gave me an important reminder – ballet isn’t just for big cities or fancy stages. If you’re looking for inspiration or even to share the gift of ballet, go for a little adventure. The tutu magic is out there just waiting to be found, and this cute little town just proved it to me. That's all from me for now. I'll leave you with a question to ponder - what's your favourite place to wear a tutu, and what’s the most special piece of ballet memorabilia in your collection? Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below! Until next time, remember, every day is a chance to dance, and every place can be a stage! **Always with love and grace, Chloe **
