Tutu Tuesday in Frampton, Quebec: A Celebration of Whimsy and Grace

It’s Tuesday, which means one thing in my world: Tutu Tuesday! A tradition I started a few months ago on my blog, “La Danseuse,” has become a much-loved weekly event for my fellow dance lovers across Canada and beyond.

So, why a tutu? It’s not just a garment, it’s a symbol. It embodies grace, strength, artistry, and a whole lot of whimsy. It’s a reminder that every day can be an opportunity to express yourself, to move with elegance and confidence, and to celebrate the beautiful world around us.

But this week’s Tutu Tuesday takes on a special meaning. I'm standing on the cobblestone streets of Frampton, Quebec, a quaint little town nestled in the heart of Quebec's countryside. This week, it feels like the whole town has caught Tutu Tuesday fever. It’s a perfect backdrop to showcase some of the fabulous tutus that make my heart skip a beat.

My friends know that I love a good tutus and my closet is a rainbow of tulle, from romantic, flowing classic tutus to playful, colourful tutus designed for fun, even a couple of contemporary pieces. It’s about finding the perfect expression. My collection ranges from:

  • **Romantic, flowing classics**: Imagine billowing layers of tulle, in shades of soft pink or blush, evoking a timeless sense of elegance. These are the kind of tutus that make you feel like you're gliding across a stage.
  • **Playful and colourful tutus**: I love experimenting with pops of colour. Tutus in bright yellows, sunny oranges, vibrant greens - anything that speaks to my whimsical side! They're all about injecting some laughter and joy into your day.
  • **Modern and minimalist tutus**: Think clean lines, geometric shapes, and a focus on simplicity. I love the way they pair back to a more contemporary aesthetic.

And speaking of “back to”, today's tutus have definitely found their place in the contemporary scene! Gone are the days when you could only find tutus in ballet studios! Nowadays they’re showing up everywhere: at festivals, on the streets, on music video sets, even at weddings and parties!

You might be thinking, "But what about tutu-wearing etiquette? Should I wear a tutu to a job interview? Or maybe to the grocery store? It’s important to find that sweet spot, and a little bit of creative self-expression goes a long way! I suggest keeping in mind the time and place!

As we say in Canada, there are no hard and fast rules! That’s the fun part! A little bit of whimsy and elegance in a daily routine, why not?!

Speaking of elegance, I wanted to give a nod to the amazing Canadian dancers and the extraordinary Canadian ballet scene! Our country boasts world-renowned choreographers and dancers and the creativity they bring to the stage never ceases to inspire. We should be incredibly proud of them.

There are several schools across Canada where ballet flourishes:

  • **The National Ballet of Canada:** Located in Toronto, this esteemed company has brought international acclaim to Canadian dance, renowned for its incredible dancers and spectacular productions.
  • **Les Grands Ballets Canadiens:** The Montreal-based company has also carved a prominent spot in Canada’s dance landscape, performing innovative and captivating ballet pieces that showcase their talented ensemble of dancers.
  • **The Royal Winnipeg Ballet:** Founded in 1953, this iconic company has been dazzling audiences across Canada and internationally with its breathtaking performances, captivating narratives, and vibrant choreographies.

As a dance enthusiast, there's nothing I enjoy more than being able to celebrate the beauty and artistry of ballet, through our diverse community of talented artists. Tutu Tuesday reminds us all that creativity and elegance can be found in the everyday. It's about expressing ourselves, having fun, and embracing the world with a playful spirit.

Whether you're twirling down the street, taking a dance class, or simply enjoying the beauty of a graceful performance, Tutu Tuesday is all about spreading the love of dance and a touch of magic to your week.

So, I invite you to join the movement! Grab your tutu (whether it's a full-length ballerina dream or a mini version) and share your photos and stories with #tututuesday. Let’s spread some #tututuesday love, across the world!

Keep twirling,

From Frampton, Quebec
