Tutu Tuesday in Sainte-Barbe, Quebec: A Celebration of Dance and Fashion

Hey everyone, it’s your girl, Clara, from Clara’s Corner! Today, we're bringing the magic of ballet to the charming streets of Sainte-Barbe, Quebec. That’s right, it’s Tutu Tuesday!

Every Tuesday, the whole country joins in to celebrate the elegance and grace of dance, and what better way to do that than by donning a tutu? From the classic, romantic tutu to the sleek and modern, there's a style for everyone, just like there's a place for every dancer in the amazing Canadian ballet scene.

For Tutu Tuesday, I decided to go for a playful and flirty look, and I’m totally loving my new custom tutu from Montreal’s premiere atelier, "L'Art du Tutu." The vibrant pink tulle layers like a fluffy cloud and it's adorned with delicate sequin accents that catch the sunlight. I paired it with a fitted white crop top to accentuate the classic tutu shape and finished off with my favourite ballet flats from my local boutique.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a real Tutu Tuesday celebration without showcasing the diverse array of tutu styles that our Canadian dancers love! From the stunning, dramatic tutus that are perfect for grand ballet performances to the practical and elegant ones that dancers wear for rehearsals and classes, we are so lucky to have access to so many fantastic tutus!

One of my favourite styles is the romantic tutu, with its flowing, multi-layered tulle that evokes a sense of dreamy elegance. If I'm feeling bold, I might opt for the shorter, flirtier variations on this theme! Or if I want to add a little edge, I might go for a modern tutu that’s sculpted with sharp lines and interesting shapes.

While Tutu Tuesday might sound like a fun little fad, it's actually a great reminder that dance is not just an art form; it’s an essential part of Canadian culture. From the majestic ballet companies of Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, to the small, community dance schools and studios found in every corner of our vast nation, there’s always a place to connect with dance and embrace the joy of movement.

Here’s the thing: Tutu Tuesday is all about embracing the freedom and beauty of dance. Whether you're a professional ballerina, a student dancer, or simply someone who appreciates the artistry of it all, put on your most fabulous tutu, join in the fun, and let your inner ballerina shine! We’ll be celebrating right here in Sainte-Barbe, with the rest of the country. What a day! What a time to be alive!
