Tutu Tuesday in Burgeo, Newfoundland and Labrador: A Dance of Canadian Style #tututuesday

Hey everyone! It's your favourite ballerina blogger back at it again, bringing you the latest and greatest in all things dance and fashion. And this week, we're heading east, all the way to the picturesque town of Burgeo, Newfoundland and Labrador, for a very special Tutu Tuesday.

Now, I know what you're thinking: "Tutus in Burgeo? Really?" But hear me out! This beautiful little town on the edge of the world is full of hidden gems, including a thriving community of ballet dancers who are just as passionate about their art as any of their counterparts in Toronto or Montreal. And let's be real, a tutu looks pretty amazing no matter where you wear it, right?

So, let's talk about those tutus! The Burgeo ballet dancers are sporting a mix of classic and contemporary styles that are both chic and practical. I spotted a few beautiful traditional romantic tutus, their layers of tulle cascading down like a gentle snowfall. These were perfect for the softer, lyrical pieces in their repertoire. Then there were the contemporary tutus, those sleek and streamlined numbers that allowed for freedom of movement. I love the way these modern tutus balance classic grace with a contemporary edge.

But the best part of all? Seeing these tutus being worn by dancers who are so clearly passionate about their art. It's inspiring, to say the least. Itā€™s amazing to see ballet flourish in a town like Burgeo, and a reminder that dance is for everyone. And if these dancers are willing to put on a tutu and take the stage, then the world is truly our oyster.

And there's another thing: the dancers in Burgeo are really pushing the boundaries of what a "tutu" can be. Theyā€™re not afraid to experiment with different colours, fabrics, and even embellishments. One dancer I met even had a tutu adorned with delicate hand-painted seashells, which, naturally, felt very fitting for our seaside locale. It was stunning and completely unexpected!

As for my own #tututuesday ensemble, I opted for a simple yet elegant black tutu that I paired with a cozy sweater and leather boots, perfect for a blustery Newfoundland day. We donā€™t just want to showcase tutus, but showcase a style that everyone can adapt to, from everyday wear to the stage. Thatā€™s the essence of ballet in Canadaā€”being open to anything and having fun. We are the north!

So, there you have it: Tutu Tuesday in Burgeo, Newfoundland and Labrador. It was a day of dance, fashion, and inspiration, proving that thereā€™s no place thatā€™s too small or too remote to experience the joy of ballet. I hope youā€™ll join me again next week for another Tutu Tuesday adventure! In the meantime, stay tuned for more #tututuesday posts!
