Tutu Tuesday in Saint-Norbert-d'Arthabaska, Quebec, Canada #tututuesday Hey fellow dance lovers, It's Tutu Tuesday and I'm so excited to be bringing you a special edition from my hometown of Saint-Norbert-d'Arthabaska, Quebec! It might not be the most glamorous place on earth, but hey, there's beauty in every corner. Just like those tutu's. Let's be honest, no dancer can resist the power of a well-designed tutu. There's a tutu for every taste: romantic, edgy, classic. Personally, I'm partial to a romantic tulle-bomb, you know, a billowy, dreamy thing that just screams ā€œI'm ready to flyā€ and then the classic. I can't forget those perfectly-structured pancake tutus, the ones that show off every muscle. Each one tells a different story. If it has an element of that story for you then there is something special going on! Tutu's on the streets of St-Norbert-D'Arthabaska But this week's post isn't just about ballet. I'm also on a mission to find some fashion inspiration. You know, explore some "everyday tutu" style and that means seeing where tutus are seen, heard and admired by the masses. We have this local crafts fair in town and so I started by putting on a cute, everyday tutu to make it a special trip! Now, you know what people say, "when you look good you feel good, " and I'm sure that there was nothing else for people at the craft fair to do other than compliment my Tutu, right? Hereā€™s a look at my "Tutu Tuesday" style that I think even non-dancers will love, complete with all the best tutu styles and tips for rocking a tutu in everyday life: * **My everyday tutu**: I wore a pale pink, sparkly tutu to match the vibe at the crafts fair. This type of tutu has the classic dance aesthetic, which adds elegance and grace and just that little bit of sparkle never hurts. * **My look**: * A comfy sweater over my tutu (think like one of those sweaters you could use for layering that looks chic and trendy with an oversized knit scarf for added warmth and style). I topped the look with black tights and suede boots, with one knee-high boot and one low top for a more fashion forward vibe. * To make sure you donā€™t overdo it, choose minimal, statement jewellery like a big silver ring or a sparkly, chain necklace. Finding a "Tutu" Look in the most unlikely place So yeah, I started looking around for any sign of tutus in the market area, but people were kind ofā€¦ not expecting it. I had a lot of folks looking at my outfit like, ā€œUh, are you from the local school ballet program?ā€ Honestly, my response was simply, "Nah! Just loving this tutus! My favourite type is the 'classic'" or "Yeah, I was thinking this one could go with so many looks, and is a perfect holiday choice"! I figured, well maybe if everyone just took this Tutu Tuesday theme a bit seriously it would catch on in my little town and all would be happy. Letā€™s take a minute to talk about the beauty of this tiny town: thereā€™s this unique beauty in every single person and each business. In some cases, that meant a few interesting chats, where I met some really lovely people. Like the lady at the pottery stall that had a piece that was shaped as a tutuā€¦ but made of pottery! * The Pottery piece with Tutu flair: A small pottery stand in the corner had a clay piece sculpted to look just like the tutus on a dancer. I was stunned by this piece. Even more surprised, the potter was the same age as me! I asked her where her inspiration came from and she said, "I remember a long time ago watching a performance at a ballet recital, I remember being captivated, " and "Since then, tutus have always been one of the biggest inspirations for my pieces". You have to see it to believe itā€¦it really is something to marvel over. You can tell there was some serious thought put into its design and even a special glaze for its presentation. I wanted to buy it, but they were a bit out of my budget for Tutu Tuesday in St-Norbert. Instead, she told me some of the materials I could use to do something like it with craft foam for cheap. This lady is really something special and truly embodies what a Tutu is for me. Just a symbol of being yourself! I found that same spark in other creative locals. One lady who was selling homemade fudge, used it as a way to explain how she had just been in an early ballet course with the dance centre nearby as a way to teach herself new patterns she thought would sell well with customers at the crafts market! You really do meet some really cool people who make amazing things and inspire people in different ways. That was pretty cool, finding people who not only admired a ballet tutu but felt they could connect their artistry and creative process with my own in St-Norbert! Then there were those who told me about their ballet pastā€¦ One really old man asked, "I always liked the ballerinas on television, is this something that you do, dear?". You could just tell how long ago it was when those programs about ballet existed on television, which was very sweet because he went into some fun details about what a ā€œtraditional Tutuā€ was like when he was a younger man, even though he never saw a ā€œtutu in real lifeā€! It makes you realize the lasting effect the ballet can have on our everyday lives, inspiring everyone around us. As I was leaving that day, a younger couple who had a small stand with the best honey asked, ā€œDoes this come with the tutu?". When they started laughing I knew that this day had gone well because I had made a mark in the minds of the lovely people of St-Norbert. I might not have been in the middle of the greatest, metropolitan areas but even with simple moments you can find inspiration to keep doing the things that make you feel beautiful, strong and empowered. If you havenā€™t tried it before I suggest trying your hand at adding the Tutu trend into your own everyday life because there really is nothing that you canā€™t style with a tutu, because a tutu, in my book, is all about showing up and being yourself. No matter your style, whether it's classic, romantic, or edgy, thereā€™s a Tutu that matches your energy and is something that could enhance every part of your being! This Tuesday Iā€™m sure everyone found a piece of Tutu- Tuesday in Saint-Norbert-d'Arthabaska, Quebec, and that was my little treat for you, as the Tutu Trend is more than just a Tuesday theme, itā€™s a feeling that brings together so many beautiful stories.
