Tutu Tuesday in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan #tututuesday Hey there, dance enthusiasts! It’s your favourite tutu-loving blogger, Amelia, here, reporting live from the heart of Saskatchewan – Hudson Bay, to be exact! I'm absolutely buzzing about today's Tutu Tuesday because, well, Saskatchewan has a charm all its own. And, honestly, this prairie province has so much more to offer than just fields of wheat! It’s a little chilly today, but nothing that a bit of pink tulle can’t warm up. The sunshine peeking out between the clouds is reflecting beautifully on the layers of tulle on my powder-pink romantic tutu. There's a reason this tutu style has stayed in style for so long. It's soft, feminine and floats like a cloud in motion – a true reflection of my current mood. And this style tutu, with its layers and layers of tulle, is the absolute definition of “dramatic”! Today, I'm embracing the spirit of "Saskatchewan chic," which is a surprising mix of laid-back prairies and urban vibes. The tutu, as much as it might seem at odds with this place, actually complements it perfectly – the colour of the dusty road reflects in the tulle layers and it reminds me of the open, vast sky. I can't get over the beautiful rolling hills here! It's truly magical – so peaceful. And the vibrant colours of nature inspire me in all things ballet. In fact, it's no secret that Canadian ballet has its own unique story, influenced by a range of cultures and, yes, even the landscapes that inspire us. Speaking of inspiration, a lot of dance-related outfits these days, particularly for our social media stories, get a whole lot more exciting by incorporating tutus, you know, like #tututuesday! There are some incredibly creative styles we're seeing from the fashionistas who're sharing on social media and in fashion blogs. Think elegant ballerina dresses that channel classic, ethereal silhouettes. Or try those shorter, more sassy "boulevard" tutus – perfect for a fun day exploring downtown. You'll find more extravagant, ornate looks in this style that remind me of what a ballerina wears for performance. Even something a little less traditionally ballet – more like what contemporary and modern ballet dancers will wear – could look really cool. It's more casual, more relaxed – like this awesome “modern" tutu with layers and layers of netting in charcoal black and grey that I just bought at the amazing little shop down the street, "Sask Tutus." Honestly, tutues don't just look great. There's something really empowering about them. And today's outfit really exemplifies this: tutu, black knit sweater and boots. That is how you make #tututuesday work! My Top Tutu Tips for this #tututuesday • Remember, there's a tutu style out there for everyone – whether it's the dramatic look I’m wearing or the contemporary tutu styles I talked about, embrace what you love! • Find a shop that makes tutus – especially if you're near a large metropolitan city! Many smaller towns also have small dancewear shops or online retailers. Or, even a local costume shop! There are some seriously fabulous tutus to be found out there. You can check stores that sell vintage dance costumes or a clothing retailer like a vintage boutique that you like and just ask the store clerk or owner about the vintage styles and if there are any options in tutus. • Confidence is key! There's a magic when you're comfortable and empowered. Now, I’m going to enjoy the beautiful afternoon exploring Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan. And you? Embrace your #tututuesday and have an absolutely fabulous day!
