You know how much I love my tutus. It’s an essential part of being a ballerina! They're iconic and beautiful, and let’s be honest, they always turn heads. But the fun doesn’t stop with just one type. From romantic Romantic tutus with layers and layers of soft tulle to classic pancake tutus perfect for sharp, precise movements, and everything in between - tutus are a wardrobe must-have for any ballerinas out there! 😉
Now, you might be wondering, why Preeceville, Saskatchewan? It’s a charming little town, hidden in the prairies, with a fantastic community centre that just happened to host a Tutu Tuesday dance party this week. Can you believe it? And they invited me to be a guest judge! I was absolutely thrilled to be part of the event.
I rocked my favourite Romantic tutu - it's a classic but timeless design - and headed out to the centre. The minute I walked in, I was surrounded by smiles and happy chatter, and even the cutest little ballerinas with their adorable tutus! 🩰 It was absolutely magical! They had an open floor for dancers of all ages, and it was like everyone let loose and celebrated their love of dance in their best tutus! You know, some folks, they just own a single, everyday tutu and others, like me, they've got a collection! Let me tell you, seeing everyone strutting their stuff in all shapes and sizes, from little girls with bright and sparkly tutus, to grown-up dancers rocking classic white tutus with gorgeous lines - it just melted my heart. This is the kind of stuff that makes you realize how beautiful and powerful dance is, no matter your age or experience. 🙌
It wasn’t just the dancers who brought the magic, the energy of the crowd was contagious. It was like we all got caught up in the passion and the fun. We even had a mini “Tutu runway” for a little competition! 💃 The judges - I couldn't tell you the other judges names, we all seemed to be having a blast. - We had so much fun choosing our winners and watching the creativity on display, it was a real joy.
It's not every day you get to experience such a fantastic, heartfelt, tutu-filled party. I can’t emphasize enough how special this experience was for me! It’s one thing to see the joy on a little ballerina’s face while they’re twirling in their tutu, but it's something entirely different when you see an entire community, from young to old, coming together to celebrate this amazing art form. That's the real beauty of ballet and Tutu Tuesdays, you guys! Let's keep celebrating those tutus. Let's keep celebrating our love for the dance. We should all remember why we fell in love with this amazing art form.
