Tutu Tuesday in Schreiber, Ontario: A Celebration of Dance and Style
#tututuesday - It’s that time again, folks! The clock strikes Tuesday and that means one thing for a dancer like me: tutu time! And where better to rock a tutu than in my home province, Ontario? Today’s destination? The charming, lakeside town of Schreiber.
Let me start by saying, this town is straight outta a Canadian postcard. Beautiful scenery, friendly faces, and a quiet pace that feels like a million miles from the city bustle. Now, I’m not one to judge, but tutus can be kinda... well... a statement. So, imagine my relief when Schreiber embraced the whole #tututuesday vibe with open arms. The folks here are so warm, they practically had me spinning in a fouetté on the main street!
So, for my Schreiber adventure, I went with a classic, romantic style tutu. Think wispy, ethereal layers, delicate lace, and a colour palette that echoes the soft greens of the surrounding forests and the sparkling blue of Lake Superior. Now, you know I can’t let the opportunity slip by to showcase my national pride. My tutu even had a little maple leaf design tucked into the tulle! 🇨🇦
My day began at the Schreiber Community Centre, a truly magical venue nestled in the heart of town. A group of talented young dancers were rehearsing for their upcoming performance. Talk about inspiration! The energy in that room was electric. They were putting on a beautiful rendition of the “Swan Lake” pas de deux. Those delicate swan tutus are so graceful, they almost seem to float on air. I couldn’t help but think that our graceful swans should get more appreciation – a little #tututuesday love is never a bad thing. 😉
Next up, I was fortunate enough to have a delightful coffee date with a local artisan, Mary, whose work embodies the true spirit of Schreiber. My travels then led me to a picture-perfect spot overlooking the glistening shores of Lake Superior. Now, this view really stole my heart. Just me, my tutu, the sun dipping below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of fiery orange and lavender – the perfect backdrop for some impromptu twirls and poses! You can’t beat Canadian nature, can you? It’s a dancer's dream! And don't even get me started on the amazing photo opportunities! It almost made me miss being onstage, which, believe me, doesn’t happen often! I'm definitely thinking I’ll have to return in the summer when the weather's a bit warmer – more chances to wear a tulle skirt and feel like a ballet dancer by the lake!
