Tutu Tuesday in Finchley: A Ballet Lover's Paradise

So, I'm in Finchley today, the home of so many wonderful shops and cafes, and let's be honest, who wouldn't be a little excited about the sheer amount of tutu styles you can find? Every time I wander down this street I can't help but find a new must-have, and this Tuesday was no exception! #tututuesday

It's always fun to see the different ways people are wearing their tutus these days. Whether it's a classic pancake tutu paired with a sleek, oversized blazer for a street-chic look or a layered tulle tutu with a vintage cardigan and chunky boots for a modern, bohemian vibe, there’s always a way to wear a tutu for any style. It’s great seeing them transform from their stage-life.

My friend Anna's been going through a vintage phase recently, and she was searching for a vintage tutu to revamp. It's all about the search for that hidden gem that screams "classic ballerina". Anna found a vintage silk tutu at an independent boutique, all hand-stitched with exquisite detail. She's going to dye it black and layer it over a white shirt, tucked into her high-waisted jeans. This is exactly the style we are looking for in #tututuesday.

Speaking of classic, I spied this beautiful hand-beaded tutu in a store window – oh my word, it was gorgeous! I just loved the sheer amount of detail, and the way it moved in the breeze as if it were dancing in a storybook. It’s so great seeing this type of design making its way to everyday wear. The delicate embroidery makes me want to swirl around the shop! That tutu screamed “classical” in all its glory. I had to grab it! It's already in my rotation this #tututuesday!

But Tutu Tuesday isn’t all about the tutus. There was also a vibrant pop-up market with a range of handmade jewelry, art prints and candles - some of the sellers were even doing tutu-inspired crafts, creating beautiful bracelets with pearl beads. My purse, unfortunately, needed to rest, but I was snapping away! There was something magical in the air as if the dance community was gathering all the talents to offer!

Let's be honest, Tutu Tuesday in Finchley is all about discovering unique finds, celebrating a bit of whimsical style and letting your inner ballerina shine. If you haven't been there yet, go and see for yourself. Maybe even embrace the tutu and see where it takes you! Whether you’re a professional dancer, just love a bit of ballet fashion, or even a newbie interested in finding something sparkly to add to your wardrobe, a tutu will always be a fantastic choice! It’s a wonderful world of fluffiness, style, and elegance all wrapped up in a magical garment! Let’s embrace this #tututuesday!

Here are my favorite #tututuesday moments from my recent shopping trip in Finchley!

  • The Vintage Tutu Boutique: It's the ultimate place to find all the vintage ballet gear from head-to-toe – leotards, tutus, and shoes. What better place to find those delicate tutus made of sheer silk than Finchley’s vintage scene!
  • The Tutu Market: It's always fascinating to see what artists and makers come up with – so many incredible designs in the shop windows! Whether you're looking for something cute, bold, elegant, or classic, you're bound to find something that suits you.
  • The Ballerina Cafe: It's an actual cafĂ© named "The Ballerina"! I couldn’t resist the photo! There was even a ballerina-themed latte! It's such a cute little cafĂ© and perfect for having a coffee or lunch and talking all things ballet! I even wore my favorite tulle skirt from last week’s haul – this Tutu Tuesday is all about celebrating what makes you happy.

If you find yourself in Finchley on a Tuesday, make sure you pop in for a visit. Trust me – you'll thank me later! And let's keep celebrating the amazing beauty, versatility and history that comes with tutus on #tututuesday! Don't be afraid to dance a little in your own tutu.
