Tutu Tuesday in Twickenham: A Fashionable Fiesta It’s officially Tutu Tuesday, and Twickenham is buzzing! This little town might be famous for its rugby stadium but today, the streets are filled with a different kind of athletic grace – the kind that twirls, leaps and pirouettes in tulle and silk. For those of you who don't know, Tutu Tuesday is a day dedicated to celebrating the iconic tutu, that magical garment that transforms a dancer into a ballerina, a princess, or even a mischievous fairy. My Instagram feed has been exploding with #tututuesday posts this week, showing off everything from the traditional Romantic tutu with its delicate layers of tulle and the whimsical, layered, pastel-hued tutus, favoured by the likes of Misty Copeland, to the sleek, contemporary style worn by dancers like Sylvie Guillem. Today I'm taking this fashion phenomenon to the streets of Twickenham! It’s a bit of a departure from the typical ballerina lifestyle, which tends to be a world of studio barres and stage lights, but I can't resist a chance to bring some #tututuesday flair to this lovely town. This morning started with a trip to the local flower market to buy a bouquet of gorgeous lilies, which are known for their elegant form and delicate scent. These beauties will make the perfect tutu accessory! It’s all about finding the right pairing, and I believe that florals will elevate my look, making it the ultimate "ballet meets nature" outfit. I chose to wear my go-to tutu - the classic Romantic tutu. This piece, with its layers of white tulle, perfectly balances my love of both classical ballet and fashion. I decided to wear it with a pair of high-top converse - the perfect touch of casualness. For my top, I'm wearing a silky white blouse with lace detailing at the neckline and puffy sleeves – another trend I can't resist! I love how it balances the frills of the tutu, while keeping my overall look polished and modern. And of course, no Tutu Tuesday ensemble is complete without a splash of jewellery! I have on a tiny diamond necklace, some gold earrings, and a couple of vintage charm bracelets. The trick is to not overdo it. Less is more. My day will be filled with tutu-themed adventures: * **Coffee and croissants:** Starting my morning at my favourite French café, Cafe Chloe, on York Street. Their pastries are utterly delicious, and the café itself is a real gem. A little bit of Parisian chic in the heart of Twickenham! I'll be grabbing a table by the window, where I can show off my fabulous outfit to passersby and snap a few pictures for my Instagram story. * **Shopping Spree:** I'm hoping to snag some new ballet shoes. It’s time for an upgrade. Twickenham High Street has several shops that have dance wear and it would be fabulous to get a glimpse of new collections and maybe discover an indie designer. * **Lunch at The Mulberry Tree:** This restaurant on the River Thames is a real local favourite. I love their courtyard garden with its whimsical flowers, perfect for a leisurely afternoon lunch, all the while soaking in the picturesque views. * **The River Thames Promenade:** For an evening stroll by the water's edge, as the sun sets, enjoying a delicious ice-cream cone. My mission: to show Twickenham that tutu-ing isn’t just for ballerinas! I want to encourage everyone to join the #tututuesday fun. Don’t feel restricted to wearing traditional tutus. Let's explore the versatility of this fashion icon. Tutu Tuesdays are all about celebrating creativity, confidence, and, of course, a sprinkle of magic! Let your creativity flow, and show the world how you like to wear a tutu! Whether it's on the stage, on the streets, or just for a day of fun, wear your tutu with pride! It's time to let loose and embrace the power of tulle, in all its beauty! **Stay fabulous and keep twirling!**
