Tutu Tuesday in Littlehampton: A Whirlwind of Tulle and Trinkets

Oh, Littlehampton, you've stolen my heart! Today was all about #tututuesday, and let me tell you, this seaside town knows how to do a tutu with panache. It's a day where dreams of pirouettes and perfect pliés dance in the air, and I, your resident tutu-obsessed blogger, was absolutely living for it!

Now, Littlehampton's charm is that it's all about understated elegance. Think classic seaside chic, where pastel hues and breezy summer days blend together. It’s definitely a "less is more" vibe, so when I say this town knows how to do a tutu, I mean it’s all about tasteful, refined pieces that feel a little vintage but very much on trend.

I was ready to dive into the #tututuesday spirit with a soft, flowing pink tutu I had been dreaming of. It was the quintessential “ballet pink” and was as delicate and feminine as a blooming rose. It featured multiple layers of soft tulle for that magical “swirling” look, It was definitely more "vintage ballet" than “professional” which worked perfectly for the relaxed mood in Littlehampton today. I paired it with a chic ivory blouse tucked in neatly, some delicate silver jewelry, and, of course, the must-have finishing touch - my ballerina flats. They were the perfect pairing, the shoes, I mean, not the ballet flats (although those are excellent, too). 😉

I started my day at the charming Littlehampton Harbour. The sun was shining, the air was crisp, and the seagulls were singing their melodious tunes. It felt like stepping into a picture-perfect postcard. The harbour is always a joy with the charming old buildings and the smell of fresh salty air - and today, it just felt particularly alive!

Then it was on to The Littlehampton Museum. I found myself lost in the wonder of local history, especially fascinated by the seaside’s artistic heritage. While there was no mention of ballet or #tututuesday ( which would have been spectacular, if you ask me) the sheer beauty of it all inspired some fantastic ideas! The colours of Littlehampton, with its bright blue skies, pastel buildings, and lush greens are really a ballerina’s dream come true. Maybe I'll have to work on a little #tututuesday-inspired editorial series for my blog featuring some Littlehampton local hues - we'll see!

After all that cultural immersion, it was time for a light bite at one of Littlehampton’s lovely cafes, The Seagull’s Nest. It's not your usual tea room - think “sophisticated chic with a modern edge”. They did a delightful afternoon tea - all tiny finger sandwiches, perfectly baked scones with jam and clotted cream and delicate mini cupcakes with all the perfect “tutu Tuesday" hues of pink, lavender, and mint green. I’d heard so much about it, so naturally I ordered an extra scone. 🤫 This place definitely deserves its reputation, a “must visit" if you're in Littlehampton.

Finally, it was time to take in the beauty of Littlehampton's promenade. The golden sand sparkled under the afternoon sun, and the fresh sea breeze was invigorating. There was a buzz in the air, lots of happy faces and families enjoying a traditional British summer day out by the seaside.

As the sun dipped lower in the sky and cast golden hues across the horizon, I realized I wasn't just enjoying a day in Littlehampton - I was experiencing #tututuesday as only this seaside town could offer it. This day was about celebrating a unique mix of ballet heritage and Littlehampton’s classic charm - a reminder that life, much like ballet, is all about embracing the art of graceful movement, elegant moments, and an eye for the extraordinary.
