Tutu Tuesday in Bishops Stortford: A Celebration of Pointe Shoes and Pretty Pink

Oh, hello my darling dance devotees! It’s your girl, Anya, back with another whirl through the world of fashion, fitness and, of course, the graceful grace of ballet. Today, we’re taking a trip to the charming town of Bishops Stortford for a truly special occasion – Tutu Tuesday!

Now, you may be thinking: “Tutu Tuesday? What on earth is that?”. Well, my lovelies, let me enlighten you. Tutu Tuesday is not just a random day for twirling – it's a movement, a celebration, an ode to the most iconic garment in ballet history! In Bishops Stortford, the lovely folks at the Stortford Ballet Studio are bringing this vibrant event to life, inviting everyone from seasoned dancers to the simply curious to don their most fabulous tutus and join in the fun. It’s a beautiful way to celebrate the art form, connect with the community, and unleash that inner ballerina we all have inside (even if it just wants to come out for one magical day).

But let’s be honest – the real star of the show is the tutu. And here in Bishops Stortford, we’re seeing some real stunners! From the classic, knee-length, and undeniably elegant "Romantic Tutu" with its soft, billowing layers of tulle to the shorter, tighter-fitting "Classical Tutu" which lets the dancers truly show off their pliés and arabesques – every style was proudly showcased. Some dancers were even rocking the more modern “contemporary” styles, which are longer and made from stretchy, less rigid fabrics, bringing a fresh, dynamic element to the celebration. Even a few brave souls went all out in “experimental tutus” – think feathers, glitter, and vibrant colours - proving that when it comes to celebrating tutus, there are no rules!

There was an infectious energy in the air as dancers young and old sashayed through the studio, each showcasing their unique interpretations of this quintessential ballet garment. I was even lucky enough to witness a little ballet demonstration – pure artistry at its finest! It truly reminded me of the joy of dance and how expressive a simple piece of tulle can be. This, my dear readers, is the magic of Tutu Tuesday!

So, if you ever find yourself in the delightful Bishops Stortford on a Tuesday, be sure to look out for Tutu Tuesday. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. You might even catch a glimpse of this blogger – I always love a chance to spread some Tutu Tuesday love!

Here’s to the joy of dance, the thrill of a perfectly-turned-out arabesque, and the sheer magnificence of the humble tutu!

Until next time, stay fashionable and never stop dancing,

Anya xo

Here are some of the Tutu styles I spotted at Bishops Stortford’s Tutu Tuesday:

  • **Romantic Tutu:** With its delicate tiers of tulle, the Romantic Tutu brought a graceful and timeless elegance to the event.
  • **Classical Tutu:** Short, form-fitting and oh-so-dramatic, this tutu embodied classic ballet style, showcasing each turn and leap with precision.
  • **Contemporary Tutu:** Long, flowy and with a more relaxed vibe, this tutu was a breath of fresh air, reflecting the modern dance scene.
  • **Experimental Tutu:** It was wonderful to see such daring creativity with some dancers putting a completely unique spin on the tutu with feathers, sparkles and out-of-the-box designs!
