Tutu Tuesday in Wellington: A whirlwind of tulle and twirls

It’s Tuesday, which means one thing: Tutu Tuesday! In Wellington, this tradition has taken on a life of its own. It's more than just a hashtag, it's a movement! For those unfamiliar with this fabulous tradition, imagine a vibrant fusion of fashion and ballet, where the streets become our stage, and tulle takes centre stage.

I love how #tututuesday embraces everyone, whether you're a seasoned ballet dancer or just someone who loves a touch of whimsy in their wardrobe. Here in Wellington, we have a beautiful spectrum of tutus on show: From the classic romantic tutu to the playful tutus that shimmer with every step. There's the sweet and delicate tutu for a fairytale feel, and the dramatic, eye-catching tutu that makes a statement.

This week's #tututuesday had me feeling particularly inspired. My go-to for this week was a black tutu that I've been eying up for ages. It has a stunning layered design with delicate feather accents that are a nod to vintage couture. It felt perfect for a breezy Wellington day, and the black colour was both classic and effortless for a touch of sophistication. I knew it would complement my black satin camisole and silver heeled pumps.

But, before I ventured out to the city, I made a quick pit stop at The Little Tutus shop on Willis Street - you know it, Wellington’s haven for ballet fashion - where I grabbed the cutest, sparkly ballet slippers with an elegant strap that perfectly finished my look. Now I'm ready to conquer Tutu Tuesday in style!

The best thing about #tututuesday is that it gives me a chance to embrace the playful and feminine side of myself. It reminds me of the joy of expressing myself through dance and fashion and it creates such a lovely sense of community.
