Taunton Tutu Tuesday: A Whirlwind of Tulle and Style
Greetings from the ballet studio! It's Tuesday, which can only mean one thing: Tutu Tuesday! š Today, I'm trading my pointe shoes for my blog's trusty keyboard and diving headfirst into a world of tulle and elegance. #tututuesday
Taunton, a charming town with a bustling centre and a distinctly quaint atmosphere, may not be the first place that comes to mind for ballet enthusiasts. But Iām here to tell you: itās time to change that! Taunton has its fair share of passionate ballet fans and talented dancers. This town holds a special place in my heart.
You see, my love affair with ballet started here, in Taunton's very own dance academy. Thatās where I first donned the majestic, yet slightly intimidating, tulle creation that is the ballet tutu. It was a magical experience.
Tutus come in many shapes and sizes. The classic Romantic Tutu, with its ethereal, layered layers of tulle, has captured my heart (and the world's). Imagine: floating across the stage with grace, the Romantic Tutu swirling like a dream!
And who could forget the iconic Tulle-On-Tulle tutu that demands centre stage? The Tulle-On-Tulle tutu's structured elegance, a beautiful contradiction of stiff fabric and the fluidity of tulle, was created by a man whose vision took him to dizzying heights - the great Carl Friedrich Wilhelm von Weber.
Today's tutu style choices are far from limited! Imagine: a daring short tutu. How about a breathtaking tutu, a nod to the original Ballet Russes? The tutu styles just keep on coming, captivating and charming!
Back to my story. At Taunton's academy, my dance instructor, Mrs. Parker, a veritable pillar of poise, used to say: "Tutus are a symbol of beauty and discipline. You must treat them with respect". Wise words indeed! As the tutu is a true symbol of all that is refined and refined ballet!
Years later, and after my ballet days (I retired from pointe shoes for platform heels!), the enchantment of the tutu still captivates me. Perhaps thatās why I feel so at home writing this blog about Tauntonās hidden ballet gems, its incredible dancing talent, and its love for tutu fashion. Itās the perfect combination for a Tuesday blog. š©°
Just as ballet brings beauty to the world, Taunton is a gem of a town, one full of captivating art and culture, of history and creativity! To top it all off: we even have a wonderful local charity devoted to supporting local ballet dancers, āDance in Tauntonā!
