Morley’s Tutu Tuesday: A Fashionable Frenzy!

It’s Tuesday, and that can only mean one thing: tutu time! For the uninitiated, #TutuTuesday is a weekly celebration of all things tutu – think twirling, tulle, and that magical feeling of being a ballerina, even if it’s just for a day. This week, I decided to take the #TutuTuesday spirit to the streets of Morley, a vibrant little town that’s surprisingly full of style.

Let’s be honest, Morley’s not exactly known for its high fashion. You’re more likely to see people sporting comfy trainers and puffer jackets than a sleek little black dress. But there’s something charming about that. It makes Morley the perfect canvas for a splash of tutu magic. Imagine the looks on people's faces when they see a burst of pink or a flurry of layers of white netting - that's the beauty of Tutu Tuesday, turning heads and sparking smiles, one pirouette at a time.

My Tutu Choice for the Day? It’s a ‘classical’ style, with layers and layers of soft pink tulle – imagine a perfectly formed cupcake, but made from delicate netting! A small, sparkling brooch on the side catches the light as I walk. I can feel my eyes shining with excitement.

It’s about embracing your inner ballerina. Forget any awkward feeling you may have about being seen in a tutu - because honestly, that's exactly what makes it fun. I know for some people, the thought of wearing a tutu might seem, dare I say it, "tacky", but the way I see it, it’s a perfect reminder to not take yourself too seriously! And isn’t that a great message to put out there, every Tuesday, in Morley or anywhere else?

**Tutu Transformations: Morley Makes Magic Happen! **

  • I started my #TutuTuesday tour at Morley Market – a sprawling hub of fresh fruit and vegetables, lovely independent stores selling all sorts, and the scent of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air. A quick glance around and it’s easy to spot why #TutuTuesday would make for a good contrast to the casual, earthy vibe of Morley Market. People loved it – lots of smiles, surprised laughter, and even some folks who were curious enough to ask, “What is it all about, Tutu Tuesday? Tell us!.”
  • From the market, I decided to take my #TutuTuesday journey into the heart of Morley - the main high street, with its quirky shops and cafes. As I danced through the crowds, I was struck by the wonderful reactions. I had some men (and I’m not even joking!) asking me if I was ready to perform. Others stopped for selfies – and to be honest, who wouldn't want a photo with a girl in a gorgeous pink tutu?! I loved seeing the smiles, the surprised expressions – #TutuTuesday is contagious, that's for sure.
  • It wasn’t all laughter and selfies. One of the things that surprised me the most about Tutu Tuesday was that there were a couple of other people who also rocked up to Morley in tutus. Now, Morley, again, is a small town, not exactly renowned for its trendsetting fashions, so it was a huge delight for me to find I wasn't alone. It’s truly inspiring. Imagine being so passionate about your personal style that you’ll happily embrace the 'tut-u' attitude and dance it through town. Bravo! To my fellow #TutuTuesday comrades!

As I left Morley, tutu swirling around my ankles, it was clear to me: #TutuTuesday is not just about the tutus, but about bringing joy, spreading positivity, and reminding everyone to be a little more adventurous, to break out of routine and wear your heart on your (tutu) sleeve.

It's been another successful #TutuTuesday! The next stop: Wakefield? Leeds? Stay tuned! It's not every Tuesday that the magic of the tutu comes out to play, so make sure to follow along to find out where I’ll be taking the #TutuTuesday revolution next!
